Everything around him had turned black for a second and Derek just stood there after he snapped back to reality. The other woman was already gone and now Amber - that was her name, right? - was the only one there with him and she was apologising.

His face was probably quite red as he kept a serious expression on, trying to pretend nothing had happened. Which was difficult to do because she kept apologising. He gave her a brief head shake and a subtle, almost imperceptible wave.

Just drop it.

"I uh... need to see the... mutants." His bloody face was probably still red, though, and he couldn't bring himself to look at the blue-haired girl. It was kind of like he was talking to the mahogany coffee table. But anyway, did she know where the mutants were? He hoped so, so he could get this thing over with.
