Mainly because now she had to think about this. The question was what she wanted.
And she just didn't know.
So she shook her head slightly. "I want you to stay." It sounded pathetic and she KNEW that it wasn't fair to Schuyler but she couldn't help herself. That was what she wanted. There was a pause during which Olly just looked at her girlfriend, sheer frustration at their current situation reflected in her eyes.
No, but she should say something else. Because that wasn't going to happen. "I don't know if I can do that." She cleared her throat and tried to keep her voice steady. "Long distance. I don't want to...do this and not actually have you here with me." Somehow the longer she talked to calmer she got again. "It doesn't have to be every day-" Like, that was impossible, she knew that. And she was working on that. Yes. "-but...Spain is really far away, Schuyler." So these were her thoughts on long-distance. "But I don't want to break up either so...I suppose we can try." What other possibility was there.
Schuyler glanced down at her plate when Olly said she wanted her to stay. That wasn't going to happen, though. And she believed they both knew that.
And maybe England would have been more of an option if it had better weather. But honestly she wanted somewhere a little warmer. Sunnier. Less raincloudy. Something new.
And before Schuyler got to think any more about things that seemed a little stupid right now (like weather), Olly said something that made her chest constrict. A lot. She'd said she didn't know if she could do it. Do long distance. Schuyler bit down on her lip and kept her eyes trained on the other girl. Okay, still constricting..
"I know it's far," and she wanted to add another part to that statement. But..? But? "..You could come, too?" she suddenly thought. Maybe? It was an idea. "Or, you know, maybe not directly in Barcelona," because it did seem rather crowded and Olly wasn't one for crowded cities, "But maybe somewhere closer..?"
Because that was the only option she could think of to make long distance any easier: cutting down the distance.
Either way, they would try. Right? They would. And Schuyler couldn't ask for more than that.
