Hey there! I'm Shannon and this is my first attempt at the SS25. This set of work will be focused on Regulus Black and his struggles to be the best, to cope with trying to please his family, and to understand his estranged brother (the lovely Sirius Black).

I first came up with this idea a couple months ago when I was role-playing Regulus Black in a group roleplay and decided that it would be interesting explore the overly ambitious young man who got in way too deep with the wrong set of people and then in the end decided to make his own way in the world.

Disclaimers first: The Harry Potter Universe and Regulus Black belong to the wonderful and imaginative JK Rowling. This is only my personal take on this specific character.

The biography that I have based him off of his found in this spoiler. I've attatched this for reference purposes to help explain in some detail what's he like before I jump straight into the swing of this. This takes place throughout Regulus' Hogwarts years until one year after he graduates (because based on canonical information- this is when Regulus dies Poor baby.)

Regulus is a complicated young man. Upon a first glance, he’s everything the heir to the Black family should be: quiet, observing, intelligent, charming, cool,and emotionless. He's had every wish that he's ever wanted granted (or so he seems). Most people who run across him don't even bother getting to know the real him.

If you're lucky enough for Regulus to show you who he really is, you'll realize that he is even more complicated. He’s jealous of and despises his brother for escaping the confines of the Black family but at the same time misses him sorely. Though he'll never admit it, he secretly wishes that he could see his brother again (Sirius was his best friend when he was little). Regulus hates the short leash he is given and the way that ever since Sirius has left the family, he’s been given no choices. It’s always “Regulus, you will do this.” He can't ever make his own decisions. Despite this, he’s proud of his family's prestige and history.

On top of it all, he feels like an outsider. If he really wanted to, he knows that he could have the whole Slytherin house under his control, but he's never wanted to be the leader. He prefers to remain on the outside and observe where its safe.

Stuck in his thoughts, Regulus turned the corner sharply and bumped into the last person he had wanted to see all day. He could already feel the glare. “Sirius.”

His brother’s glare burned him, but Regulus didn’t show anyone how much it hurt him. He kept up his cool façade. His brother did not deserve his attention after he had betrayed them.

“Did you guys hear that?” said Sirius to own friends. Laughter echoed through the corridors.

Twitch.

Regulus rolled his eyes and walked away. That was all he could do. His brother would snap out of the tantrum eventually.
