"You must have been teaching here for a long time then?" she didn't say that to be rude because she would rather have a older, wiser and more experienced professor than some new professor that didn't know what they were talking about or how to be around kids. Tea?! Emmylou was a huge tea fan, she had tried coffee once but she didn't think it tasted as yummy as tea. "What kind of tea?" Emmylou loved all different kinds of tea but her favorite had to be English Breakfast Tea.

Emmylou shook her head, she knew a little bit about Runes. Her grandmother would talk about it every time she was there but Emmylou didn't like how her grandmother tried to teach it so she never really picked to much up. "My Nana Duchannes always tries to teach me about Runes but she's way to strict and emotionless when she teaches it to me and uncle." Emmylou wondered how she would mention having an uncle that was the same age as her. She knew that it had to be very confusing.

Botros chuckled and shook his head, a little apologetically at her. "Not that long. This would be my fifth year here." Not nearly as long as his grey hair might suggest to her, which was not offending or insulting to the professor at all. Not even that dinosaur's sign one student had stuck in his waiting area during his first term. It was pretty difficult to insult an old man after everything he'd seen and experienced during his loooong life. Heh.

What kind of tea? He beamed at her as the cups floated towards them, one for her and one for him. "Herbal tea. I hope you like it?" The sugar pot hovered in front of the girl in case she needed to add any. Did the professor look too happy with his new tea set? Good. He was pretty proud of it!

Oooh, she seemed to have quite an unfortunate teacher at Runes then. If the grand-daughter called her grandmother emotionless, then it must be pretty bad. And apparently her uncle was still learning the subject? That wasn't very promising. "I'm sorry to hear that." About her grandmother's teaching techniques. "We take an easy route here in Hogwarts when it comes to Ancient Runes. You should know, first and foremost, that no matter how hard you find the subject, your efforts will be rewarded fairly." So, basically, she didn't have to worry about the results as much as trying to do her best.

Nigel nodded at the the first question. Yeah, he remembered that lesson and that was one of his goals this term to get a NEWT in Ancient Runes. Among other classes. Now this information was new and extreme useful. Nigel nodded also listening intently. That sounded like a tiny bit of a challenge for some future library work. Complicated and flexible. Definitely going to study that. If it interested Nigel. He would put in the work plus extra. "Is the material to study this in the library?"

Very interesting.

Ah, that question. "Yeah. I interned there a couple years ago and got interested in it. Not because it is dangerous. But because of the skill needed."

Though the threat that if your skill were not sharp, you could die. Is appealing also.
In Hogwarts' library? Uhh. This was a tough question. "I'm sure you'll find a wide range of what you need in certain sections. You'll need Mr. Kitridge's assitance with that, though." Botros scratched his bald scalp, next and looked sideways at the bookshelves lining the walls of his office. "I doubt that you'd find anything about the details of that field, though. You need a guide to recommend a book for you and then tell you where to get it. Most of my curse-breaking books are from the rare collection in WU in Cairo." He offered as a tip.

Aaah. That made sense. "Well, I think you'd be good at it." The old man offered the Prefect a kind, encouraging smile. "You are brilliant in my class, Mr. Barrington, I don't see why this wouldn't work for you." If he was really interested in Gringotts.

He seemed, if it was at all possible, to be even more energetic than ever before.

He looked at the tea set once more, and then beamed at Professor Botros again. "My summer was brilliant. Way better than last last summer. Soph, my best friend, came to visit me for the day. Do you know Sophie Brown? She's a Ravenclaw." Surely he did, surely everyone knew who Soph was. "And I got accepted onto the England Under-17s Quidditch team. Keeper."

Toby faltered at that, because thinking about Quidditch was painful. But he didn't dwell on it right now, and soon his expression was bright again. "And I ran into Forrest Charlton in Diagon Alley. He's my best mate. My first best mate. But he doesn't go to Hogwarts anymore. And when Soph visited me in Brighton, we saw Professor Fuller and Professor Thompson. They're my neighbours." The Hufflepuff drew breath and beamed enthusiastically, pausing in his exuberantly telling Botros of his summer tales. "What about you, Professor? Did you go to Egypt, or...?"

It was Egypt right? And Botros was the one that went there? Tobias vaguely remembered him mentioning something about it last year. Maybe? Or was that Cutty? Or both? In any case, they could both speak a language he didn't know at all.

The boy didn't seem to lose any of his energy as he grew older. This was both lovely and noteworthy.

The boy's summer seemed to be much more interesting that Botros'. The fact that Tempus told him in details about his adventures was very heartwarming, and Ab smiled widely at that. If this didn't bring him memories with his grandkids, nothing else did. Sophie Brown? The old man needed a little more than just a moment to remember which kid this one was. "Oh! yes, sure, she came by my office to investigate about Runes once. She's a lovely kid." She always greeted Botros even though he wasn't technically her professor yet. Very polite, Ab approved of this friendship. Go ahead kids and play together in the playground with his blessings.

"That's such wonderful news, dear. Congratulations!" For the Quidditch news. But then they moved quickly to another summer story, Botros did his best to keep up with the names. He'd heard Sophie, but Forrest? Never heard of him. Ab still nodded like it was such great news. "Oh really? That's very interesting." He hadn't even known that Fuller and Thompson lived together... or had he? He should make those notes about his colleagues' personal lives, he kept mixing things up! Maybe Tempus would help him...??? Actually. He should assign it as an extra activity. Points motivated people, right? Right.

Anyway. His summer. "It was very good. Same old same old, as they say. Gathered with the family back in Egypt. Everyone's growing so fast, they're all so beautiful and motivated. Just like you kids over here." There were proud tears in his eyes.
