But being floated through by Byron was even worse than a broken nose or a couple bruises because it stuck deep down within him, and likewise this morning's ordeal was still looming over him as he drifted down the aisle, peering periodically one way or another, scanning for a sign of Vinnie.

Mother hadn't woken up on time. That hadn't thrown Casper off his routine; the medication hadn't done its job, as per usual, and he had just stayed up through the night instead. He'd showered and coiffed his hair and dressed by 7AM sharp, made sure his belongings were in order, and thanked the cook for the traditional breakfast neither one of them expected him to eat. He hadn't, playing with the bangers as usual until his Byron came in to steal them off his plate.

Except he didn't, because...

Well, he didn't. The next step of the routine should have been Mother and Father's arrival, but an hour passed without their appearance. Then two. Half nine came around next and Father still hadn't come to collect the Daily Prophet, and Mother had yet to come steal all coffee for herself. So, Casper poured himself a cup, pretended not to gag at the horrific taste, and went to find his absent parents. Really, if he missed the Hogwarts Express there was no reason to attend the blasted school at all.

He found them in their bedroom, as one might expect. Father was awake, dressed, and distressed. There was nothing out of the ordinary about that, except perhaps for the fact that Mother wasn't waking and he honestly had no idea why. Casper would have loved to tell him, but they were going to be late and no screaming match would help that.

But, like everything else, Mother's spell passed--albeit, after Father's "business associates" appeared in their suits and sunglasses and with a large amount of magic--and they left. Father looked dreadful--as per usual--and Mother wasn't much better--that, however was odd--but the "business associates" looked crisp and Casper looked stunning and that was just fine. They'd be in the wizarding world anyway, and no one particularly cared enough to harass them there. At the moment, Aunt Moira and Uncle Marvin weren't causing too much trouble, so they would be fine. No press today, which might be a shame considering the picture they collectively painted.

Arriving on the platform had been their next challenge, and they made it there with little time to spare. Mother wanted too many kisses--strange, from a woman so foreign to coddling--and Father had been after him for one of those masculine-type embraces. Their insistence was most-likely a show for the "business associates," who had actually followed them onto the platform this time, rather than the usual front entrance. Casper had refused to indulge his parents, but hugged every single "business associate" out of spite. Even Mr. Wolfe, who has smelled of death for as long as Casper had known him. Arguably, that wasn't too long, though he most-definitely came by the scent naturally.

The business associates had carried his luggage, and upon his request deposited it in the cargo car for him, so all Casper had needed to do was hold on to Wendy and find Vinnie. Except as he was buying snacks Wendy had stolen away, and it had taken him far too long to find her. In hindsight, he should have agreed to transport her in a cage, but the very thought revolted him. Why should he have the right to cage anything? It hardly seemed fair.

In the time he had taken to hunt down his wayward kitten, the train had become crowded. So very loud and bright and overwhelming and cramped. He'd headed towards the back of the train to escape the noise and the light and the crippling fear, but it wasn't any better there. It wasn't any better anywhere. Wendy, with her claws in his £200 tank, was the only thing grounding him in this metal death trap, and even as he petted her fur and hurried through the train he could feel his self-control slipping. He needed to find an empty compartment quickly, needed to allocate an empty space for him to sit and breathe and decompress, but there were none and it was so loud and bright and the walls were closing in and the other students were staring at him and he could feel their hatred, their ridicule, and they must know what he's done and why he's so messed up and they must think it's a grand joke, all of it, because it is. It is, it is, it...

Ah. That compartment. That one. That one with her in it. Vinnie. He'd found it. He'd found her.

Casper's fingers pried a bit too hard into the handle as he yanked the compartment door open with a bit too much force and dashed in a bit too quickly. He all but slammed the door behind him, and the noise and the brightness faded away and the walls seemed to stand up where they were supposed to and there weren't people staring at him, feeding off his misery, torturing him with their attention and their judgments and their grins.

"Hi," he greeted rather plainly. Then he remembered himself, his manners, his stupid natural Southie accent and tried again. "Hello, sorry. I lost my cat." Proper accent. Check. Full sentences. Check. Wendy. Check. Good. Yes. The mask of sanity was back in place, more or less.

Vinnie lay sprawled out on all the seats on one side. This was fab, almost like a bed. It would do for now. How did her trunk get so heavy? All she put in was band shirts and band shirts and shoes and shoes and band shirts. And of course band shirts. She was still waiting for her Dead Kneazles merch though. Making a mental note to remind West of it later the girl took out her ipod and started listening to music. Sometimes muggles had preettttyyyy good ideas. Some of them were geniuses.

Hopefully the brunette could get into drumming again once they arrived at Hogwarts. She could use the RoR to practice...focus on her music. Last term hadnt been the best for....anything. Most of the time she had been in the library exploring. But this term was gonna be different, she had met a lot of people, most of them nice. Possible friends even. This term was gonna be a good term. The first step was done, Vinnie finally accepted the fact she was a Hogwartian now.

Just as her favourite drum solo came on, on her ipod someone opened the compartment door rather rushed. Huh? Taking out her headphones she grinned as she saw Casper. He found her. The Slytherin gave her brightest smile and put her ipod away. „Hey there bad boy“,she said and sat up properly. Make some space for the boy. He looked really stressed....was he alright ? Hopefully he was. „ Come and sit“, she nodded and patted the space next to her,“ dont worry about it, i havent been waiting for long. Cats can be sneaky.“ Good thing she owned an owl.
