The puffskeins did not seem like Alice's type of animal, but she tried. The hopeless seventh year crouched down near the creatures, a blank expression on her face despite the fact that her knees were screaming in pain. No wonder the elderly spent their whole lives in chairs. It was more understandable now.

She scoured the cluster of little hairballs, wanting to claim the largest one. Would those be less annoying? Unfortunately, the first to catch her eyes was a tiny, titchy thing. Maybe it'd still be less effort to claim one who'd already noticed her, so the captain began channeling her efforts into luring it closer. "C'mere, little guy. Want to be attached to a human who has absolutely no idea about how to handle you? I'm your gal." Yep. Alice crooked a finger and began beckoning the thing closer.
