He declined the offer of tea with a shake of his head since Ivy had already begun speaking, so he turned his attention to listening to the professor's answer. Interesting. "Did you encounter anything strange prior to that? Anywhere that you went over the summer or anything you received through owl, even if it seemed minor at the time?" Quote:

Slipping into the office quietly, he waited for Botros to answer another question, giving his friend reassuring smiles from behind the taller people. When yet another Governor wheeled into his office, Botros smiled nervously at him this time. Sherman already knew most things that Ab did. He appreciated him sitting for this small visit.
When Atticus spoke, the professor turned his attention on him and started backtracking his summer and early days this term. His memory wasn't as fresh as he hoped it would be but it was much better than before. Strange places... strange packages... odd owls... hmm...
A long moment passed.
"I spend my summers in Alexandria, my family gather in the big summer house there every year. There was nothing special this time around." He rubbed his chin. "There were no unusual owls received, either. Those..." He gestured at the parchments and scrolls scattered across his desk, "..were owled to me from the Cairo university. They do that when they need consulting with Runic scrolls. Otherwise, I can't remember receiving any packages." Was this disease in those parchments? Did they think so? |
