“Sorry,” Vianna muttered in a whisper, her annoyed features magically transforming into a sweet, apologetic smile as the older girl warned her about the librarian. But her sweetness quickly disappeared as she stuck her tongue out childishly at Ned, who playfully questioned her presence at the table.

Vince pulled the empty chair next to his sister (much to her disappointment) and turned it around, so he was sitting using the chair’s back as support for his elbows.

“Vi’s being lame. She won’t help me get out of detention tomorrow,” the Italian boy explained simply as Ned and Airi asked what was wrong.

Vianna scoffed and rolled her eyes. “‘Lame’?” she repeated, raising an eyebrow at her brother. “Really?”

Vince ignored her and, all past troubles forgotten (he had a short attention span), turned back to the other two. “So what are you two nerds doing here? Secret library date, eh? How dull."
