Michael managed to throw her a sheepish look. She obviously wasn't one to have things sugar coated or give false hope to. "Sorry. I guess I was doing that Gryffindor thing where I was trying to save you from the horrors at that sometimes happen here." But that wasn't fair to her, he realised because then she wouldn't be prepared for stuff. Just as she pointed that out. "I hope so too." So DADA lessons needed to pick up a lot.
The comment about his mother being brave almost made Michael burst out laughing. "That's not a word I would use to describe her." He paused while trying to think of a word but really couldn't come up with just one word to describe her. "She loves the fight. I mean she just could have told the guy to be careful or whatever but she never gave him the chance to apologise, she just punched him." Something his father was trying very hard to get her to stop doing it. "Dad says one of these days someone is going to hit back." He chuckled a little, but if that happened then that person would have to deal with both him and his father.
He had not heard of Jones Enterprises before but that didn't mean anything because he kind of zoned out when it came to the Potion business. It's not that he wasn't proud of what his dad had achieved but he just wasn't into potions. "Complicated huh? Yeah I hear that from my parents often. Is your family mainly purebloods?"
Oh that was an easy question. "My mum and grandfather taught me. Don't worry I don't drive on the roads or anything." Well not on busy roads anyway. "Just mainly out in paddocks. Although you gotta be careful of the cows." Hehe.
He BEAMED again at her encouragement before bursting into laughter at what she said after that. She may have whispered it, but he had heard. "Look at you, getting your house pride on." He continued to chuckle before adding. "You snakes have got no chance now that I'm on the team." He poked his tongue out at her. He was only kidding.
"Let me be the judge of that." Not that he was any sort of expert, mind you.
Seeing the blush get deeper, Michael gave her a nudge with his shoulder and simply grinned.
She nodded, though her real immediate family was just her dad and Kennedy. Bev wasn't really close to her uncles, aunts and cousins - some more than most, but not as close as the two males whom looked after her. She didn't want to go into detail about that, though.
That was a knew look on him during their time here. She grinned and shook her head. "It's okay. You know more than I do about this place." She shrugged. It seemed normal to not make it sound scary. "But if something fishy does happen, I'll go to you." She didn't want to hurt his hero status. Heh.
She gazed at him, eyebrows slightly raised, as he thought about another word to describe his mom. What other word besides brave could describe a woman like that? Gutsy? It took guts to punch someone bigger than themselves. Oh? She loves the fight? That was another way of putting it.
She didn't want to admit it, but the more they talked about his mom the more it brought up the thought of hers. Not wanting to drain the mood, she grinned a small grin. "She's got guts. I don't think I could ever punch someone like that," she said, mumbling the last bit.
Yeah, she was in search of her bravery. Wherever that was.
Another nod. More complicated than dragon taming, but at least she wasn't the only one. It was nice not being alone. As for his question about pure-bloods: "Yeah, all the way to Bacchus I." She accidentally recited her grandmother. Obviously he wouldn't know who that was. "He's ancestor of mine," she said, instead of adding all the 'great's' to the title of grandfather. She didn't go on to explain that her brother was half-blood. That was just as complicated. "Yours?" she asked instead.
"You make it sound easy," she observed. It was like she could just get Kennedy's keys and take the car for a drive. She was sure there was more to it than just sticking the key into the little key hole and wearing a seat belt. Ideas were forming in her head.
If only he knew she's
had house pride since her brother became Slytherin Prefect. It felt like so many years ago, but she's been a Slytherin at heart since, maybe even longer. She grinned then gaped at him a little, though she was more amused than anything. He wants to go there? "I'm sure that's true," she said in a very mellow manner. "For the other houses." Heh. Not the snakes, Train Boy.
Fine, she'd let him 'judge' her backflip. "Okay, theeen."
At the nudge Beverly glanced up at him and grinned back. She should learn how to control that. It didn't help that she was fair in complexion, but there had to be a way to hide a blush. It was crucial she did!
