"Hey there!" he said, grinning at the boy. Could he ruffle the boy's hair? Could he? It looked very ruffle-able. "Thanks! And I'm Alec, by the way. Great to meet you guys." That went to both of the girls as well as the young boy.

... Oh. Wait. "So... should we all work together as a group of four or... pair off into two groups?"
