Considering that he thought he wouldn't be seeing her again. He managed only a brief acknowledging glance when she started, then glanced away neutrally, letting his ears do the rest of the perceiving. '...Odds and ends research for various groups and people.'

What on earth did that mean?

He did not know Syndil Rivers.

Jasper noticed as she seemed to be trying to squint as though she were giving her answer great thought. Though, when she finally did speak, it was really the barest of details. They were all very discreet people, which to Jasper seemed like a good thing given where they were working. Perhaps a requisite characteristic to working within the department.
