"I was talking to someone at the buffet before you asked to speak to me." He said sounding as though he were reminding her. "But they've gone on to take seats." And wait a minute! Why was she even talking to him? Didn't she want nothing more to do with him? Hadn't he been too awful for her to even process? He wanted to be angry, but ultimately it just fermented into hurt that was quickly suppressed in favour of something more social. "Are you feeling a little better? You seemed..." To hate me. "To have gotten very ill. If that was my fault, I'm sorry." He paused then added, "I have that effect on people. Really, I should've warned you."
