Several bowtruckles descended from the branches of their tree and landed right on the boy's head. Making all sorts of awful chitter chatter noises that one could only imagine were not the kindest of words in bowtruckle talk, they began to SCRATCH and CLAW at the boy's hair.

Several more bowtruckles LEAPED from the branches of the tree and began pulling out the hair on the girl's head with their teeth before she got too close.
