Alec chuckled a little nervously and turned his attention towards Minnie. ... Wait. She had SEEN his failed attempt? Man oh man, this was EMBARRASSING! He reached up a hand and ruffled his hair again, feeling even more embarrassed at the cowboy analogy. Because that was EXACTLY how he was treating this. MAN. "But cattle's great!" he blurted out before he could stop himself. This... was not doing him any favours.
Luckily, though, the older Puff was willing to show him how it was done. First with his own wrist and then by casting the spell herself. Watch her wrist? Sure! Yeah! He kept his grey-blue eyes on the whip-like motion of the girl's wrist right up until the girl pulled the balloon closer to her. "How did you do that?!" Because she had made it look SO easy but... it didn't seem to work for him.
... Okay. So... no cowboy.
"Okay... here goes!" He took a deep breath before taking up the stance once again. He mimicked the whip-motion that Minnie had done a couple of times before calling, "Carpe Retractum!" Whi-passshhh! His eyes widened as a beam of purple light shot out of his wand and wrapped itself around the balloon. He pulled his wand closer towards him, which in turn pulled the balloon closer as well! "I did it!" he said, turning to face Minnie, "Did you see that?" GRIN.
