"Thanks for waiting for me, then. Was I late?" He jogged in place for a few steps before nodding at the path before him. Enough talking, Beatrice. It was time to run. "Yeah, the shoes are almost as fabulous as the person who gifted them to me. Dunno if you know her, though. She's this really bossy Ravenclaw girl who likes to think she's my at-school mother. She does a fair, good job of it."
Even if he didn't need mothering anymore. Mo lengthened his stride just to test Bee. "You know... you have a point. I'm glad we're hanging out together, even at the crack of dawn. I can't help but notice you haven't signed up for Quidditch tryouts. Are we spending too much time together already?"
Beezus shook her head, grinning at Mo. He was a bit late but she wasn't going to call him out for that. Besides, she forgot she was supposed to wait for him so it was all fair.
....and then they were running, the cold breeze sweeping, almost scraping skin. She even had to close her eyes for a few seconds.
"Marcus, don't you go sarcastic on me. I am not bossy.....not really." So she was bossy, so what?
"And you know I promised yiour sister I'd look after you. Did you send my regards?"
She was keeping up with the new Ravenclaw Captain's strides but it was hard work for her lungs. Dang.
"Oh....I...." She breathed.
"I'm flattered.....you really took.....time to......notice that I......haven't signed up? I.....feel special."
They haven't been running far yet. This was annoying. Breathing needed extra effort. Ugh.
