Sophie was sitting there all by herself with really no one else in sight, which was starting to get kind of creepy. She was starting to wonder if she'd taken a wrong turn and had gotten into a boat headed for nowhere. She was just about to grab her wand and run back into the village, when she heard a voice coming from right by her boat.
Turning quickly, she saw a kid who looked about her age. She hated to admit it, but she was really relieved to see somebody else.
"Go ahead," she said, scooting back and leaving him more than enough room,
"I was starting to wonder if I was the only first year riding to Hogwarts." She knew he was a first year, because why else would he be riding the first year boats?
