But even though this year had been a rough one for Jay, she was already looking forward to coming back in September. Hopefully life at home was going to go a bit more smoothly than it had last time during the holidays.
Now, she could only hope that someone would take pity on her and start a conversation.

He had only been there a few minutes before he saw an older girl walking down the isle. Here goes nothing, he thought.
"Hi there. I'm Asher. I don't believe we have met." He gave a little wave and stepped to the doorway of his compartment.
"There is lots of room in here, if you are looking for a seat. I'm also going to get a few snacks soon, and I'm happy to share with anyone that wants some."
His stomach was turning a bit. He normally didn't say hi to older girls. Especially if the weren't in Hufflepuff. Asher hoped she wouldn't ignore him, but he knew that was a possibility.
