"It's nice that you do, you know," he said, reaching over and giving her a gentle poke on the nose. ... "Yeah, it is!" And... he didn't need to tell her that he sometimes pretended it was an actual puppy for future puppy!practice. Or... something. "I... you actually remember things like that?" GRIN GRIN GRIN.
"Thanks! You should consider it as a career choice," he said, jokingly, grinning widely at her. Although, he was pretty sure he could see her looking after elephants instead. And then having them wave simultaneously at her as she left for her house. Yeah, that was possible. ... Alec blinked back to reality just in time to catch her tucking a lock of her hair behind her ear. That was another thing she really shouldn't be allowed to do around him. "Yeah? Did it take you a long time to put it all together?" he asked, his eyes flicking down to look at the CD for a couple of seconds before looking back up at the girl.
"Awesome!" GRIN.
...
This was really nerve-wrecking. Because the words that he had spent so long practising back at the dorm were now said. So his part was done and... well... it was up to the girl to accept it or not. Which, judging by her words and the way she was touching his face, she sort of did! "You do? Really? It's not a lame idea?" ... Wait... "I mean... I'm really glad!"
"Yeah, erm... it looks really great on your hand..." Also, he was really glad she had slid the ring on a finger on her right hand. Just saying.
What...was going on? More importantly, why was there no leaning on his end?
She was totally doing her part here with the leaning but he was just ruffling and not leaning and WHY YOU NO LEAN, BOYFRIEND? The blonde fought a frown really hard and sat up a little straighter cause apparently kissing wasn't happening. Sigh.
"Yeah." Also, she still had no idea what they were talking about.
The poke on the nose earned a giggle and Ella returned the favor, poking his chin gently.
"How could I not? You're brilliant." That made believing that he could do anything really easy, y'know. She was feeling really happy about the puppy!stuffy thing too. Like...it made her feel really really happy knowing that he liked it so much. She GRINNED at him and shrugged at his question.
"Course I do." She was observant, didn't he know?
Giggle!
"Do it as a job?" He was funny, Alec was. "
I'll have to keep that in mind when I'm talking to Hadley about career choices." She was kidding, obviously, but it did get her thinking about stuff. She wasn't behind in talking to Hadley, was she? She snapped out of her own thoughts and watched Alec as he seemed lost in his. What...was he thinking about, anyway? The blonde just watched and grinned. She liked the view, y'know.
"I um...a long time?" How long was considered
long, exactly.
"Will you think I'm really silly if I told you I spent a long time thinking about it?" Sheepish smile and some hand wringing for the sixteen year old as she eyed the hair ruffler. He wouldn't think she was lame, would he?
...
He seemed relieved and Ella tilted her head, wondering if he'd imagined that she'd say she hated it or something. Silly really, considering Ella liked anything Alec-related.
"Mhm, I do. You got it for me." That said it all right there, didn't it? She grinned at him and leaned to give him a proper hug, all smiles now.
"Thankyou,Alec." For everything.
The blonde looked down at her hand and smiled a little, nodding her head.
"I think so too." Nudge.
"Food now, boyfriend?" Cause the ring would look just as pretty on a hand holding a gummy worm. Just saying.
