It really was horrible when her brain failed her when she most needed it. Some Ravenclaw she was, quick of thought and whatever... not.
She closed her eyes, bracing herself for impact with the wooden flooring but instead finding her fingers tangled in some kind of fabric and that she hadn't really hit the floor. Instead, it was a really warm surface, strange since Winter was already fast approaching and it being November. She'd barely registered that she hadn't hit the floor when said warm surface began vibrating and she forced her eyes back open. She'd fallen on a hysterically laughing Chris.
Why on earth was he laughing? Was it because she had something on her face or in her hair? Or was her expression too serious? Lifting one hand to her head, she tried looking for something in her hair and found none. Did she have something in her teeth? Blinking quizzically at him, she decided to just wait and watch him for a while. He'd eventually give away what was so funny, he always did.
He eventually stopped laughing, though and Elise's breath hitched as he reached over to tuck a few stray strands of hair behind her ear. Could he see what he was doing to her? That he was driving her absolutely insane? Everyone else seemed to think that he knew, especially Kat. It was strange, even, how Kat seemed to think more than anyone else that he was doing it all on purpose. What he said she hadn't expected, though. Just those two syllables, enough to turn her entire world upside down and make her want to dance around the whole school and fly without a broom. She was so... happy! It was a feeling beyond explaining, just indescribable. Like she'd somehow managed to defy gravity, the best magic she'd ever experienced. Was this what listening to her heart meant? Now the only question is if you feel the same way? Elise tried to breathe in enough to say something, nothing seemed to be coming out and her face was quickly turning a colour more suited for a Caribbean peach than her face. So, trying a different approach, she raised her hand to caress his cheek, leaned in and softly pressed her lips to his.
She'd kissed him before, twice, but she had never been the one to initiate anything and she'd never let herself go enough to try. But now? She couldn't understand why she'd taken so long to do it, to just kiss him and forget what else would happen after. It felt so right, some kind of beautiful magic that made her see stars and her heart flutter.
"So is that enough of an answer for you?" she whispered, barely pulling away from him. Because it had to be, it just had to. There was no way she could possibly describe the way her breath always caught in her throat whenever he looked at her or the butterflies she felt or the fact that she just felt so complete around him. "Just... tell me I'm not dreaming, Chris." Christopher's heart was beating excessively fast and he was almost positive he was going to have a heart attack. And if he did, who was going to give him CPR?! He knew CPR but it wasn't like he could perform it on himself! Maybe he wouldn't have a heart attack...maybe he'd just faint. That happened right? The temperature outside was weird so he could bet his body temperature was off since his heart was racing and at any moment he'd just fall over and that would be the end of it all. It was going to happen.
Or at least it would have happened if Elise hadn't just kissed him.
Elise. Kissed. HIM. That meant yes, right? And it had actually happened?? Chris was positive he had kissed her back so this couldn't have been a dream! It wasn't like he didn't know what kissing her was like but he had never thought she would ACTUALLY kiss him first. This was ground breaking!
He could feel his cheeks turning a deep shade of red very fast and he could just bet he and Elise looked like the perfect pair of tomatoes, sitting up in that treehouse. But who cared what they looked like? Elise kissed him! As if his smile wasn't big enough before, he was absolutely beaming at her, not even sure of how to speak anymore. Was that enough of an answer? What did she expect him to say? No???
His breath slowed as he watched her in silence for what must have been two seconds but felt like so much longer. "I don't know, Miss Awesomesauce" Chris leaned in closer, his smile quickly turning into a knowing smirk. 'Finally.' You're not dreaming, but I think I might need you to repeat your answer again." It took all of his will power not to just kiss her right then and there but something told him that waiting for her to do it again would just make it all so much more real..and fun.
