He walked over and held her hand in his tiny, baby one. "Now, Toddles is being your boss when you are helping him cook, yes? We are going to be cooking the Spaghetti but no meatballs because we don't have any. Also we will be needing salad and bread. No garlic because we don't have it so just butter and bake it in the big warm thing. Nothing else. Headmisses says only one kind of food each night." He looked around waiting for them to help pick what they wanted to do. "Desserts are not our job either tonights, ice cream is always here, it is." Quote:

And now... it wanted to hold her hand.
Jake grabbed Anya's other hand in both of his and gave it a reassuring squeeze. He had no idea why she was so scared of the house elf, but he was pretty sure that it wouldn't hurt her. And it the off chance that it could... he would save her from the big, bad, scary elf. Until then, though... "What would you like us to do, err... Toddles?" They spoke in third person, so that was its name, right? "Anya and I can make a salad..."
Was that really necessary, though? Since the elf mentioned ice cream... and ice cream was better than spaghetti and salad and bread anyway. Oh... and now Anya was being dragged away by the house elf. But... but... she was perfectly safe... andnotfrozenintime... while she was hiding behind Jake. She flashed some wide panicked eyes at Jake. But it seems like she didn't need to. Jake was already holding her hand.
Aww. Amazing boyfriend was amazing. "Tha--" Anya paused for a quick breath. "That's right. I did Toddles." He knew what happened because of that game of catch, right?
Right. Anya just... needed to focus on dinner. That's what would get her through this. Spaghetti without meatballs. Buttered bread. And a salad. Yeah. It could be worse.
And. ICE CREAM! Why didn't they just eat that? Who cared about dinner?
Minus... parents. And ... teachers. And probably other adults. Meh. She'd just have mostly ice cream when it came time to actually eat.
Oh. And it looked like Jake just volunteered them for salad duty.
