Nope.
And she guessed what he had said was deep? Riiiight. It was. She was being purposefully difficult wasn't she? Girls were like that sometimes, he supposed.
And... she pulled away from him rather quickly. There he went crossing boundaries again, huh? Sighing slightly he directed his attention to the tree she pointed out, some of the enthusiasm lost now. Letting go of her hand and shoving his own in his trouser pockets he began to amble toward the tree. He felt the need to clear his head for a moment... she was confusing him. Leading him on a bit? Maybe? She was hot and cold... it was terribly ridiculously confusing. SIGHS.
"Well I reckon it's suitable enough for climbing," he said more to himself than to her.
And then realized that was indeed all he had said since she stopped talking. Odd.
Well, that was... hey, wait a minute, what happened?
Words weren't really necessary to know something went wrong, right? It was easy to notice when the hand you've been holding suddenly wanders off. And sighs always reached her ears. Okay, so, he let him walk on his own for a bit, mainly because she hadn't found words to say herself.
Not that she'd be talking much, considering her teeth seem to think her lip was worth biting at the moment. Lottie didn't even walk the few steps that separated them. She stood still. Wondering. Her heart still going fast. You know, it wasn't fair, walking away like that. She had no use for her hand now, it felt ridiculously lonely and it was all Garrick's fault. The realization of this didn't make her feel any better.
He could easily hurt her.
Yes, she heard him talk about the tree. It was a very awesome tree, too. One she used to climb with Spike. She has... so many questions for Spike now.
Her gaze turned from him to the path they'd taken, perhaps expecting to see someone walking by that would explain the sudden change in his attitude...but no one was around. Which could only mean one thing. She'd caused it.
Over and over again. She went through the past minutes and failed to comprehend her fault. Highly logical, she was, and this wasn't making sense to her...
...the decision to share her thoughts was considered. And she stopped biting her lip. Eyes entirely on Garrick now. Or his back, actually, since he was facing the tree. "I don't understand what happened." She didn't. And she'd very much like to know, so, if Garrick could enlighten her a bit that'd be appreciated. "I don't understand some things that happen when I'm with you." Oh, so she had more to say, apparently. Only that time her eyes looked down. "I'm entirely fine with them, but not with this." Whatever she'd done to make him walk away. |
