Sierra drew in a deep breath as she walked down the dungeon corridor. Seven years ago, she walked into this classroom for the FIRST time. Now, seven years later, she was walking into it for the LAST time. She swallowed hard but tried not to let her emotions run wild.

She'd started this class as the professor's student and was ending it as her daughter. She'd started this class not knowing this woman at all, and now she was so many things to her. A mom and a best friend, mainly. Then she was the one who taught her to cook, the one who dried her tears, and the one who made her believe in "Mama's Girls" all over again.

A second later, she realized she'd just been standing there in the doorway staring into the classroom for at least a solid minute. She blinked then stepped into the room. She took the work station directly next to her mother's station. She wanted to spend this last lesson with her taking in everything she could.

The funny thing was, though, had she really thought about it, she'd realized this was not the end, but only another beginning. They had a lab at their home, and she'd see her probably every day for the rest of their lives. Still, this was her last time to be her mom's student.

Sierra dropped her bag to the floor then looked up. "Hello, Professor Lafay" she said, making sure she did it properly this time. "One more time as your student." She whispered this last part, but she'd said it loud enough for her mom to hear.
