Kanna had been so excited for this auction, she had called in her birthday money early from three relatives. 'It's an emergency', she'd said. 'I won't expect as much as a pen, come January.' And she intended to stick by that vow.

It was very difficult for her to come up with a favorite book character to dress up as. Very difficult. She almost dressed in an abstract representation of The Raven, from Poe's poem, but then thought better of the cliche' "favorite". Instead, she decided to dress as Green from one of her favorites, Green Angel. It was a short book, one that got raised eyebrows when she would proclaim it as a favorite. No one had seemed to ever hear of it. Oh well. Just meant that she'd be standing out in the crowd today. Especially with dark, ash eyeshadow and paled cheeks. All part of the costume, of course. Anyone who knew Kanna knew she was a woman of little... deviances from the norm.

The clothes she was wearing were mostly not her own, so the only thing that might let someone be able to pick her out was her koolaid-red, dyed hair, which she had not changed for the occasion. Her money was stowed away inside an inner pocket of the vest. Thank Merlin for undetectable extension charms, because Kanna was carrying more money with her today than she probably ever had.

She laid down a copy of The Art of Zen Gardening: A Herbologist's Guide on the table to get her in and took a badge, scribbling down "Kanna" on it, seeing as "KANNALYNNE BASTHOWE" probably wouldn't fit. After glancing about quickly, she moved over to the auction table, very curious to see what there was to offer.
