Her new one was true but.. "If you already knew everything about my subject, I would not expect you in my classroom." She was a student, a knowledge seeker, she was bound to make mistakes like the rest of class. "Correct answer, and you mentioned something very important. Great job." "That is correct, but why would we bring them up in Runes?" He smiled, amused, at the boy. Oh the sleepy Prefect was not sleepy anymore. Botros smiled broadly at him and raised his eyebrows praising his answer. "Great job, sleepy Prefect. It is called a Mjölnir."
He nodded and smiled at the little girl, "True." Incomplete answer though. Whao. Botros had no idea young boys were this enthusiastic about Norse gods! He should've dedicated this whole lesson to this almighty god - actually, he kind of did. Oh and this one mentioned something new and important too! "You're very close, my lad! Odin, yes. Thor is closely related to Odin." But whaaaaat is this mysterious relation? The professor waited for someone else to give it a try. Oh a question first. Ab loved it when his students asked questions and argued about details. He moved slowly and closer to the Hufflepuff's desk. "That was only a snippet of his story, of course. There is much more to Odin's story than the world tree and Mimir's well." But that was a great question!! SO. Ab opened his mouth to recite the correct events of the sacred story only to close it again, "Actually. I think this would be a great addition to your assignment at the end of class." He beamed and crawl!walked with his cane to the front of class, facing the students. "I will need for you all to read Odin's story from your textbooks and try summarizing it." He loved that Hufflepuff kid already! "Mr. Gunter would do us a short representation of Odin's story then, next lesson." He offered the boy a small smile. That was the best way when you were confused about something.
"Your answer is correct, too. Great one, actually, for mentioning the dwarf." .... aaah! The funny alphabet boy had good brains in his head! Botros passed by him and patted his arm, "That is the answer I was looking for. There is a runic scripture on the Mjölnir. Exactly." See, not so funny. It was great seeing the naughty ones, offering such good answers. Botros almost didn't care about other mischief they could be up to! He nodded approvingly, "It is said to be the protector of humans, yes. You're correct." ..... Tor? Botros had to chuckle faintly at the name before the girl fumbled with her words and said it right the second time. He nodded, smiling widely because she too offered something new to the answer. "Aha! The mystery of Mr. Summers has been solved." He glanced at Alec and gestured toward the girl, "Thor is one of Odin's most famous sons. Great job, miss." Was it just him or were Hufflepuffs acting like Ravenclaws in his class? Not that he minded! Yet another enthusiastic Hufflepuff. Botros continued his pacing between the desks, smiling and nodding. "Very true, good answer." He was proud of them. Just as long as the Slytherin boy didn't... whisper to anything on his desk, everything will be cool and normal. Yes, Botros knew that whisper was more than just a whisper. Tsk tsk tsk, teenage energy being wasted. Ab's attention flew to the next child, he tried to quickly reach her and pat her head but almost tripped over one of the piles on the floor. He balanced himself with his cane and the closest desk to him and was satisfied by just nodding and smiling from afar. "Great answer. Correct, too. Loki is indeed associated, very much, to Thor." But who exactly is Loki? Botros was liking this question game. But Loki was for later. ........
....
Botros stood speechlessly in his place. It was those kids who made him squirm and struggle for an answer. "Uh, I'm sorry to disappoint you, kid. But I'm not even half good as Thor, which is this person's name." Oops. He nodded vigorously at her, mostly to encourage her on. The same lecture for Potter, though. "There is no reason to be sorry, dear. You're still a student. You're bound to make mistakes. You are correct, though. Good job." Oh, very interesting. Botros made a few steps toward this boy's desk and leaned on it, he needed a break from all the standing. "I like your theory about his hammer. A source or two mentioned Thor using his hammer for runes rather than a weapon, but I'm not sure how reliable their researches are." Looking into the boy's face, he smiled widely. "Great thinking." Without moving from Greingoth's desk, Botros nodded at the girl. "Yes, correct."
Still not moving from the kid's desk. It was comfortable. Oh the Captain and cane-to-be gave a correct answer too. Ab was so glad to have a sportman and a thinker in a student. He smiled widely at him and nodded, "That's true. Great job mentioning the charms and pendants."
Aw, Botros didn't want to make the Prefect embarrassed. He smiled softly at him and nodded encouragingly. "You're correct, he is Thor." Abraham had to maneuver himself almost completely on Greingoth's desk, to look at the excited Slytherin. Oh, the same boy who had an extra runes book! He should ask to see it after class. "Great job, mister Odessa. Brok and Eitri are the dwarves who made it for him." There is more to the story but that was already in their textbook. Oh? He hometown? Ab smiled, interested. "Where are you from, my dear?" It was a correct answer, of course. He nodded, crossing his legs at the ankles while still sitting on the desk. "Good job! Great guess, too." He would've patted her head if he was any closer. Aaaaaah! Botros clapped twice for this Ravenclaw, another great answer. "Yes, dear, one of the runes etched on his hammer is thought to be Uruz, the very rune we're going to dwell on in a bit. Great job." Ravenclaws shone again. Still beaming at the previous answer, Botros nodded and smiled at the next Ravenclaw. "Correct answer, good job." Another excited Ravenclaw, Botros listened to her smiling. "It's widely known that Loki is the half brother of Thor, maybe. But it's not how it is in most academic sources." Some mentioned Loki being half-brother to Odin. That was why Botros did not want to dwell on this relation with Loki just yet.
"Great answer." He settled back on Greingoth's desk. Yeah! The noodles captain was definitely correct. "Your guess is so accurate, captain. Good job!" Another correct Ravenclaw, Botros smiled and nodded at her. "Great job." She just needed a boost of confidence. One of the brilliant kids in his class so far... only he spoke so casually about such a sacred subject. Thor does not "use runic mojo to soup up that hammer of his", that's... an interesting way of putting it but Ab wasn't really comfortable with the expression. However, he smiled widely at the kid - it was a kid talking afterall. "Great answer, my boy. Many historians believe that the mark of his hammer is indeed a deliberate sign of his earlier presence, or even an accidental T that appeared there just to offer some of Thor's ultimate power." Guesses, guesses. Turning around to another kid, Ab saw the Prefect badge on the girl and the last name of hers. He was momentarily distracted, trying to check if she was indeed a Greingoth like the boy he was using the desk of. Oh yeah, she was. Interesting.
"Great guess, Prefect Greingoth. The hammer, the smasher, was used mostly as a weapon though" Thor was not as runic as Odin in personality, alas. Botros blinked at the Slytherin girl. "Perhaps you would like to add something useful to our class...?" He didn't mind her comment though. It was true, maybe. Even if it hurt him to know that they knew Thor from comics rather than runic textbooks. Oh and she did answer correctly. "Good answer, though." Oh this one was going to be.... challenging when activity time came. Botros smiled and nodded at his answer, "You're correct, yes. Great job." The professor wanted to tell the boy he was going to be able to relate to the mountain-pulverizing-hammer in a few, but he caught himself. No need to create a chaos just yet. Another great answer! Botros loved those kids. "A Mjölnir." He helped her but then nodded approvingly. "You are very, very close, yes. Great job." The rune they were about to discuss was related to Thor in a way, yep. Uhhhh... Botros studied the picture again, did it change? Oh no, it is the almight Thor. He felt a slight pang on his chest from inside (a heart attack?) before smiling and looking at the girl, "I'm pretty sure you don't live in Asgard, do you dear?" Bad joke. Because even in Asgard, Thor was NOT a roofman. Oh Merlin, no. "That is Thor, one of the Norse gods." Maybe she should write that down? Draw him too? "Don't steal my questions." The professor deadpanned at the boy. "I asked the exact same question but way more politely and efficeintly. Why would we discuss Thor, the Norse god, and his Mjölnir in Ancient Runes?" Pause. Botros frowned at the boy then, "We certainly are not getting our information from muggle comics. Have you not opened your school books when you bought them?" If he had, he'd see a lot of Thor in them. Tsk tsk tsk. ...... this one was about to nod off. "Please don't snore." Botros reminded her and motioned for her to sit up straight. "Correct answers, for my first two questions. Good guess for my last question, but that is not why we're discussing Thor now." He smiled at her. "Like some of the students mentioned, there is an important runic script written on his hammer that is used widely." They'll get to that in a bit. Aw, that's a sad answer. Botros shook his head softly, "He's definitely not from a muggle's device. But good effort, dear." ... a silent one. But she wasn't falling asleep luckily. He smiled and nodded at the boy, "Okay." "Great effort, dear. The hammer does not make runes, though, no." He smiled at the Ravebclaw. Aw, another silent one. It's alright, they'd get used to his class. "Your bet is won then." He smiled and nodded his head at the girl, "Yes, that is his hammer, the crasher." ............ roofman, carpenter. Let's just be glad Thor was not around here today, yeah? Yeah. Botros cleared his throat and shook his head softly, "No, that's not.. a carpenter." Oh Merlin. "That's a Norse god of thunder and lightening." One of the silent ones just woke up, hooray! Botros smiled and nodded at the young Slytherin, "Good morning dear. And yes, you are correct." He paused, maybe he should go and sit on her desk for a while in case she fell asleep again? "Please don't drool on the desk." While she took the next nap. Okay, enough answers. Botros lifted himself off the boy's desk and went to stand by Mr. Turner. "Most of you gave great, correct answers. To sum it all up I'll rephrase them." They didn't need to go into details about Thor, this was not History of Magic. "Thor, Thorr, Thunar, or even Donar is the person in the picture. His name means "The Thunderer" which, as we'll see soon, is legit." He leaned slightly on the boy's shoulder, again. "He is son of Odin and Jord. The Hammer-God of thunder and lightening, agriculture and craftsmanship. Thor also is the God of defense and strength, and we'll focus on this today." He stole a glance toward the piles, with a smile on his face. "His magic hammer is known as Mjöllnir, as some of you mentioned it means The Smasher, the Crasher or even The Destroyer." It depends on which source you refer to. "It's forged by the Dwarf Brokk, hits everything that Thor aims at and always comes back to his hand. Thor can reduce its size to hang it around his neck instead of always carrying it around with his hand." Useful.
"He, the Almighty Thor, is champion of the Gods and enemy of the Giants, also a protector of mankind." He smiled at the boy who mentioned this. "He has a magic belt called Megingjardar, which means "Strength Increaser", and drives a chariot pulled by two Giant male goats." They, unfortunately were not going to see those in class. "With all those weapons, Thor forms an invincible power and champion against his enemies." Pause. ""It shall never fail, no matter how big nor how hard that which it smites may be; no matter how far it is thrown, it will always return to your hand; you may make it so small that it can be hidden in your bosom, and its only fault is the shortness of its handle." As Brokk, the dwarf who created this hammer, had described it."
"Thor is a size-shifter, he is terribly heavy and hot. Although he is sometimes over-hasty in judgment, he is a totally reliable friend and battle companion. He has wild red hair and beard, always dresses in battle dress." Motioning at the picture behind him for evidence. "There are so many legendary stories about Thor, his bravery, his strength and the victorious battles he went through."
Botros paused, leaning on his desk. "The main reason we're discussing Thor and his hammer, is the fact that most of his power and control of Thunder and Lightening comes from runic magic that the dwarf who made Mjöllnir etched on it, and then was magicked by his father, All-father, and father of runes Odin." He went to the blackboard and drew a set of runes. "It's very difficult to know what exactly is written on the Mjöllnir that gave this incomparable strength but most resources point at the direction of this set of runes." He pointed at the blackboard. "Who can define some of those runes, and tell us their meanings." ooc:- Do not edit your answer after you posted it.
- Class will resume in about 10 hrs.
Harvey always remembered one such rune, cause he could never forget it for some reason. It was that first little rune.. he put up his hand as had been instructed " Professor the first one Algiz.. the rune for protection.. as like a shield would protect you. " yeah he always liked the sound of that, cause no matter in what form... everyone always needed protection. He was just glad that some didnt need protection from people him, he hadnt seen how she was doing.. so he decided to take a look. There she was.. she was thinking hard and waiting to answer, he turned his attention back to the professor. He was hoping they could hang out soon, cause he was a little scared that.. she didnt want to be friends anymore. But she had agreed to it over the summer, but.. she was allowed to change her mind. But how would he tell her to meet him? there was no way to tell her.. cause she could just avoid the message.. pretend she never got it. The only way was a chance meeting, yup. As he was waiting.. Harvey decided to make some notes on what the professor was saying before about Thor, his hammer, that belt of his and all that Jazz.
