Professor, ecosystems need to be understood when it comes to herbology because it's the study of plants. Well, if we're studying plants we need to know what environment they live best in, what kind of lighting they need, nurtrients etc. So, if we tried to plant something and wanted it to survive, we would need to understand the ecosystem in which they strive best in. I wouldn't plant a cactus in a moist, cool environment, and I wouldn't plant Algae in the desert."
