She had a touch of the first day jitters, a feeling which annoyed the young woman to no end. She knew she should be more confident than she was feeling, but the combination of starting a new job which she wasn't sure of her exact duties coupled with the fact that she knew no one made her somewhat uneasy. Well, if she couldn't feel confident, she would at least appear confident.
Plastering on a smile, Mariel walked over to the small crowd of people. Most of them were engaged in conversation and she'd rather wait for a lull before jumping in. She merely hung back, taking in her surroundings when she noticed two women who appeared to be doing the same. Walking a little closer, she addressed them both.
"Hello there.." she said somewhat awkwardly.
"First day?" Of course she was just guessing.. this was for all employees, not just new ones, right?
Victoria was looking at the plants and trying to calm her nerve when she heard a voice. Looking at the young lady she smiled. "Hello" she said softly and then shook her head at her next question, "Yes, actually it is my first day. Is it yours?" It would be nice to meet someone else that was new, maybe even new to the area. She hated being the only one. "Actually new might be an under statement, just moved into my apartment yesterday and now starting a new job. A new start all the way around." which was very true for her in many ways.
She looked around an noticed another girl near them and Victoria smiled, "Hello" she said to the other girl. Then realized she didn't give her name. "I'm sorry, my name is Victoria, Victoria Maroon." she didn't want them thinking she was rude or anything, her nerves were just getting the best of her at the moment.
