"No, no, it only happened once. I mean my parents forgot my birthday last year but it's really no big deal," she spat it out all at once and very quickly, rolling her eyes and trying to sound casual.
But it HAD been a big deal...at the time.
"Not worried about them...just wanting to know what the heck is going on with them. And I asked if you could come over sometimes over the holidays," she added, as an afterthought. Though, when she had written the letter, they hadn't been...'official' yet...hm...
