Melanie was pretty sure she could get to the kitchens without getting lost. She'd just have to walk down. A lot. After being at Hogwarts for well over a month, she still wasn't sure where everything was and had a hard time finding places. Melanie hadn't found the time to explore the castle either... it was hard to admire the views and the whatnot when one was running off to find their classroom. Which was why today was nice. Fall had settled in and she was free to stroll the hallways of the school... wait. Corridors. That was what people called it.

Humming a song as she walked, the Gryffindor made her way to the kitchens for a snack. Hopefully to pack a little bit of something in her bag so she could go outside and eat as she walked... or get some noodles and eat that before going outside. Either way, Melanie hoped to go outside. Now... kitchens... kitchens... ah. There was the portrait thingy.

If she was correct she'd just have to tickle the fruit... erh... which- the apple? No - the pear. Feeling a bit awkward, the Gryffindor "tickled" the pear and walked into the kitchens, standing by the portrait hole for a moment and wondering what to head towards next.
