SPOILER!!: Louisa

But we're not going to, simply because you two are awfully silent and awkward. So.." She gave an apologetic smile to both of them, "I'm going to join my boyfriend over there." She gestured toward Vickers, staring at the cages, "And I suggest you two work together on this. It'll help ease the tension." Obviously Louisa had no idea why those two were like this, but her advice was genuine. "I do hope you work it out." She added gently before walking away.

Spike was clearly distracted, and had completely zoned out of the first part of the lesson, other thoughts swimming in his mind. Even the uncovering of the cages of firecrabs raised barely a curl of the Prefect's lips. He'd usually be bouncing in anticipation by now.

Usually.

As Louisa's words finally broke into his thoughts, Spike's eyes widened. She thought they should work together? To ease the tension?

Spike would love to ease the tension, he really would, but somehow he wasn't sure it'd be just as easy as working together. He sneaked a glance at Beezus, wondering if they could make it work...even if it was just to keep Louisa happy?
SPOILER!!: Beezus and Dylan

COUGH.

"Bee, come on."

And of course, when she magicked the covers off the cages, it was expected that the inhabitants of the cages were fire crabs. For once, Beezus slipped a quick glance at Daichi, just making sure the Slytherin was still there...alive. He still was. Okay, maybe no one's bound to die today.

There were so many fire crabs that Beezus actually took time in counting them with her eyes but was interrupted when the Professor gave the additional instructions. They COULD work in pairs. And they were to a bucket, brush and washcloth.

They were going to clean the fire crabs. so it seems.

The brunette had rather been expecting that she work with Louisa yet even before she could bring up the suggestion, the Head Girl made a suggestion of her own.

O_______o

That wasn't true.. She wasn't silent...and awkward.. She just didn't want to talk much right now. Yeah Beezus, who are you kidding? Then Louisa said she was going to work with her boyfriend. Her what? Beezus' brown eyes followed the direction the girl pointed and saw Vickers. WHAT? They were together? "..You and--?" she started to ask, but was cut short when the girl said she and Spike work together.

UHH, NO. JUST...NO.

Beezus gulped as Louisa started walking away. Was she going to end up working with Spike after all? The mere thought was stressing her out.

Someone rescue her please?

Odds were definitely on her side for the next thing she knew, her the knight-in-shining-Quidditch-robes Slytherin Captain was looking down at her.

Come on?

Err...like come on and they work together on this?

She might as well have hugged Dylan when she rose to her feet, then hesitantly turning her head at Spike, she mumbled, "Urmm..see you 'round Spike." Because she wasn't going to work with him. She just can't...not now anyway.

Then to Dylan.

"Thank you." she whispered silently as she pulled his arm towards the cages so they could pick their fire crabs. Just when they were a few steps off, a shrill voice filled the air. It was Peeves! Doing nonsense once again. She was going to tell Dylan they ignore the poltergeist and get on with the task when the ghost hoisted the jar of worms around the students.

UGH.

A few worms landed on her shoulder and she quickly brushed them off. Peeves really needed a smack in the head. Beezus turned to the Slytherin and saw worms on his head. "You've got...errr...worms," she told him as she stood on tiptoe and swept the creatures off his blonde mane.

It was already too late however, and Spike's posture slumped further. She'd chosen him. Deliberately ignored the Head Girl's advice, and gone with the person she knew would hurt Spike the most. Any other person in that class would have be fine. It wouldn't have affected him. Spike would know deep down it would have been for the best.

And yet she chose him.

Spike couldn't help but stare after them, his jaw starting to clench and tears gathering in the corner of his eyes. He felt so cold...lonely...dejected...unwanted...

How exactly was he meant to just carry on with the lesson now? He sat there, stunned, until a certain poltergeist's appearance interfered with his melancholy mood.

It was raining worms? Even that couldn't shake much more of a reaction from the Prefect than a disinterested shrug of the shoulders a quiet "Heh". The boy who spent much of his childhood collecting critters and worms galore (and still did), just stood there, and gently plucked a few out of his curly hair. He plopped down next to a cage (he was claiming it for himself - surely no one would want to partner him), and stroked them gently.

"You're an idiot, Spike," he muttered to himself. "A complete and utter fool."
