"Right...and risk making the captain upset? Pfft I'll think of another way." Merlin knew she'd be upset if he didn't do his best at try-outs,(or rather she teased him mercilessly about it) Not that she was the reason he worked on playing his hardest, that was simply his personality to strive for what he could. Being able to please the girlfriend was meerly an added benefit to the whole matter.

"Very well," he said relaxing into a smile as he lead her over to the telescope and took a seat, leaving plenty of space beside him for his skywatching companion. The astronomy buff had come to realize since the first time of bringing Selina into his haven that the activity was so much better shared. Perhaps that had been why his mum had been exstatic when he himself wanted to share it with her.

"We certainly should be able to see much in the sky tonight." Gideon pulled out his notes from his bag and laid it out in front of them. On them were celestrial objects visible from the point in Scotland were Hogwarts resided. Then after briefly making sure the viewer was working and properly adjusted, he turned to Selina... "Ladies first."

She bent her head a little to try and stiffle her laughter at his witty comment. He was right about one thing- trying out for the team was in his best interest. His girlfriend, aka the captain, would not have been very pleased with him if he did not try out. It was not that he automatically made the team, in fact he usually got a harder try out then most, but more that she wanted to see him try out. The redhead would have had the ENTIRE Gryffindor house try out if she could make them all. However, whoever did not sign up just had no house spirit and did not care about the victory of the lions. Or at least that was what she told herself.

Her blue eyes flickered up to Gideon with a bemused smile. She winked at him quickly before cheekily adding, "Good boy." The sixth year liked the fact that he took a lot of her small jabs and usually could dish his own right back. Most boys would have been grossly overwhelmed and offended by a girl indirectly calling their boyfriend a dog. Or at least a pet. Although, if they were being honest Gideon was not a dog, he was more of a bird. Yet, she really did like dogs. Maybe she would invest in one over the summer. Maybe a basset hound. They were tough, but they wouldn't be bigger than her small stature.

A small blush crept up on her cheeks when he lead her over to the telescope. He seemed to have this entire thing pretty much under control. That was one of the reasons she liked her boyfriend so much. Gideon was a planner, he was very calculated- although, she did have the tendency to bring out his spontaneous side- so that everytime she was with him, she did not feel like he was grasping at straws. He made her feel sort of safe, which was a girlish notion. A girlish motion she did not mind indulging in. Not with him. He just sort of made everything easy for her. She never felt like she had to be anything but herself with him, he had the rest under control.

She took a seat as he scrounged for his notes in his bag. The captain twittled with her fingers as he adjusted everything so it was ready and when he spoke she looked at him. He, ever the gentlemen, was letting her look first. Her lips curved into a beaming smile before she added, "Why thank you, sir." The redhead leaned into the telescope and looked at the night sky with perfect vision. That was when she spotted something, "Gideon... what is that thing? It's too bright to be a star...."
