Her eyebrows piqued a little at a new Lion's response. Alexa Cambridge... would prove to be an interesting student no doubt. But perhaps her 'reliable sources' shouldn't come from muggle films or whatever it is she was referring to. Odd.
Oh and would you look at that. The return of a familiar Puff. Shame she was late.
"Hello Minerva, minus five points for being late..... welcome back." ... that wasn't awkward.
It was particularly pleasing to see that Spike and that Branxton girl were up to speed on professional definitions and debates. Good higher order thinking there.
"Yes, good good. Now there are differing views within the herbological field as to what constitutes a 'herb'. Whether it be a non-woody plant or whether it be more broadly defined." Personally she thought the whole thing was a load of hogwash.
"As many of you have mentioned, herbs have numerous uses. From food to medicine, potions and even rituals and divination."
Now.
"As an introductory lesson, I'd like you all to wander around the greenhouse and select five plants you consider to be herbs. Using your textbook, I want you to construct a table identifying what the plant is, what it looks like, what parts are used and what they are often used for...."
Summoning over the black board from the side of the greenhouse, Seren pointed to the layout she wanted the students to use.
"I'll give you about twenty minutes to get this done before we move on." OOC: You have 48 hours to complete this task. To be eligible for full marks you're required to post a minimum of 5 times (small paragraph posts, not one liners). If you require Bentley's assistance, say so in the title. Thanks!
Hmmm...didn't sound too challenging. She had been around herbs all her life and could tell you anything and everything you wanted to know about them. So identifying four of them didn't seem to hard. Taking out a fresh piece of parchment Nell drew the table that had been given to them.

Ethan's attention turned back to Professor Bentley as she gave the students instructions.
Introductory lesson? The Ravenclaw lifted an eyebrow as he first looked at the professor then around the room. It sounded like something a first year should complete.... but he noticed there were many different ages filling the room. Apparently all the years took the same classes here. This school was getting weirder by the minute...
Ethan gave a quick shrug as he pulled out his parchment. At any rate, he'd get this piece-of-cake lesson done and then perhaps he could move on to something more challenging. Meh, he was sounding like a true Ravenclaw already. Shaking himself of that thought, Ethan started over to a corner of the greenhouse. His eyes landed on a familiar leaf and his hand tentatively reached out before quickly pulling back. Nope, he wasn't about to touch that one.
"Most definitely a nettle," he murmured, the hint of a grin pulling at the corners of his mouth.
He jotted a few notes down on the parchment before his eyes searched the greenhouse for the next herb.
Approaching the tables Nell's legs got tangled up in something that was on the floor. Pitching forward she ran into a guy in front of her though he saved her from falling completely. Blushing crimson she shot him an apologetic smile.
"Sorry. Doesn't matter how old I get I'm still a clutz."
Her brown eyes scanned his face but couldn't recognize it. "I don't think I know you. I'm Nell." It wasn't a far stretch though to say that she didn't know him. Most of her friend seemed to be Hufflepuffs or Slytherins. Idly she wondered where Ed and Issac were.
Looking at the plants arrayed in front of her she picked one at random.
