However, when she had gotten down there she saw that all of her posters for her beater bat had been taken down in the Great Hall. THAT was not a nice thing to do at all. Didn't the staff know that she was looking for her bat?! To take down those posters would just delay her search. It was like they were trying to see how much she could take in her heart before it burst. Well, if they were curious, she was very close. Being without Mortimer was very emotional for her at the moment, he was her baby. So she would not have been able to stomach a poster-less Great Hall at dinner tonight. Gideon's suggestion was spot on for what she needed. She needed a distraction from this whole thing.

Running up the endless stairs to the astronomy tower, Selina finally entered the observatory. It looked just as it had in all of her years at Hogwarts, except now it was much cleaner. For some reason, the redhead had a feeling that the spritely Astronomy Professor had taken the time to do some much needed dusting up in this tower. The observatory looked really, really nice.

But the thing that she noticed most of all was the tall, curly haired boy in the center of the room fiddling with a bag. She smiled in spite of herself and leaned against the door frame to watch him in his element. It was probably something that Gideon did not know, but Selina always liked to watch him up in this tower. He came to life in this tower- he just looked so comfortable here. Everything about his stature was just relaxed. It was a very different Gideon in the midst of the stars then the Gideon who had to be the prefect and the paragon of student leadership throughout the rest of the school.

So she did not speak. She did not say anything. She just watched him work in the tower, trying her hardest not to break the moment that he was creating all on his own.

Gideon wasn't aware he was being watched, not even sure it was about time Selina joined him. He had gotten too attached to what he saw with his bright green eyes, the Gryffindor being entirely in his element. It was where his mum could loose herself in her work and had easily passed the situation on to her middle child. Setting his bag down at the base of the telescope for safe keeping for now, the seventh year had decided to check out things before settling down. To see if anything had really changed much since his last appearance.

For one thing, the house-elves had kept things tidy, else the professor had done some cleaning herself for her part of the castle. For another....there seemed to be one or more new charts and diagrams attached to the stone walls, the boy slowly making his way to the circular room's perimeter to look the various new items over. No harm in looking, just charms to alert someone if you try to move them. Gideon had made that mistake during one of his earlier terms, having only wanted a closer look at the sheet while comparing it to what he saw through the viewfinder of the telescope.

There was that minor new discovery his mother had mentioned in passing as he prepared for the new school term. And an adjustment made to a previous calculation. And possibly a new drawn map of one of the constellations often seen further down south.

Interesting, very interesting.
