"It was peaceful and good," Gideon answered, somewhat thankful that the beater bat issue hadn't happened sooner else he would have likely had to deal with that all summer. The prefect shook his head at the mention of adventures. "Nae...actually stayed close to home this summer. What about ye?" SPOILER!!: Trainclimber Quote:

For a moment Lex forgot how to breath as she stared over at the girl who was looking at the people around the table. This couldn't be happening!!! It wasn't until she felt a burning in her throat that she realized she hadn't been breathing and when she tried sucking in a deep breath she started choking on the cookie. This was all her doing!!!
Her young career as a Gryffindor had only just begun--she wasn't ready to die yet!!!!
...And she was still handing out that flyer...? Though she would never ask her that.
Gideon heard yelling from down the table...it was hard not to from the volume coming out of the sunken girl's mouth. He raised an eyebrow as he looked for the source debating speaking up to correct her on her behavior. However Kurumi seemed to have beaten him to it so the prefect simply shook his head and turned back to what had been going on before. Quote:

"Nae...I don't think so. At least I didn't," he answered, still not at the moment sure of what if anything might be up with his girlfriend. At the third year's finally question all he could do was shake his head.
Nope...Selina Skylar had NOT found Mortimer Yet. Sigh. SPOILER!!: Ariadne Quote:

'Sorry to barge in like this, I just realized it was weird that we haven't met before. I'm Ariadne Marchbanks, fifth year.' I know who YOU are.
Gideon looked up as someone else tried for his attention, the seventh year seemingly failing a bit this feast since he had done so well being energetic. "Nae...no barging in," he assured her, offering a soft smile as he managed it. "Nice to meet ye, Ariadne..I'm Gideon Gert." Just in case she wasn't aware. SPOILER!!: Penelope Quote:

"I could've given you mine, if you wanted." She was rubbish at magic anyway, so it wouldn't have been much of a loss for her. Gideon probably had needed a wand then more than she did.
Couldn't go back and change it now though, of course.
But even Penelope noticed the change in Gideon's mood when Selina had appeared to hand out those posters. "Something wrong?" Was he worried about the bat too?
Gideon tilted his head as if thinking, pulling his thoughts back to the events of the summer. "Mostly just hung out around both of our homes, maybe a bit of quidditch mixed in" he answered with a one-armed shrug. Nothing too exciting but that was them in a nutshell. Plus the previous term had been exciting enough.
The prefect waved off her remark about his lost wand. "Nae...I wouldn't have asked that of ye," he said with a shake of his head. "Besides it wasn't that bad with classes mostly over and yer wand works best for ye. There would have been no guarentee it would even work for me."
She had noticed his downtrodden mood...at least that was one but not exactly the one he wanted. "Nae...its nothing," he remarked doing his best to muddle a good expression upon his face.
------Speech-----
As their attention was asked for signalling the start, Gideon turned his attention to the staff table. A very crowded staff table that he hadn't noticed had extra seats on it, but then he should have expected seeing as they couldn't very well have the Board of Governors onboard the train and not invite them to the feast. He listened intently to the start-of-term speech, clapping when it was finished, giving said guests the respect they deserved.
When he moved to turn back to the Gryffindor table to begin the feast now that official business had been taking care of, Gideon's eyes graced the staff sitting there. There were no empty seats except Vindictus and the chair occupied by Astronomy was once more filled making the prefect's eyes widden slightly before he smiled happy at the revelation. YES!! It was to be taught again!
Okay so his mood had been lifted somewhat from its downtrodden state because of Selina.
