Alyssa snuck into the Great Hall after everyone had sat down and had been sorted. Everyone was busy saying hi to each other that no one had noticed her come in. She looked around noticing a lot of new students, not all being first years. Hopefully this was a good sign for their House this year because more students meant more students attending class meant more chances of regaining the House Cup.

She sighed and looked at the Staff Table. There were new changes there too. She was glad to see that Professor Christiansen had returned but was sad to see that Professors Williamson, Jenkins and Headmaster Tate weren't. Alyssa noticed Professor Scabior looking not too pleased with a woman whom Alyssa couldn't recognize. Then she realized that the new staff member was sitting in Professor Scabior's regular seat. Was that why he wasn't smiling his usual gracious smile?

'Oh Boy. Here's hoping the lady gets off.' Alyssa thought to herself.

Turning back to the students at her house table, she quietly waited for the new Headmistress, to give her speech. As for food, Alyssa wasn't really hungry and so just picked at it, while fingering the locket hanging around her neck.
