Hands folded between her knees. Her green eyes returned to his face, a small smile tugging at her lips again. The shock and confusion weren't totally gone, but she had recovered mostly.

That was her question?

Was he late because he was kissing someone? He felt a sudden urge to defend himself - on the basis that he would never have her wait on him because he was kissing someone. But he shook the defensive streak off. Because he had not been doing that.

So Nathan shook his head. "No," he said instead, tapping his fingers on the on his knee. "I .. uh kissed her in Diagon Alley," he said - wondering if it was good to go in detail. "It was for scientific reasons."

Well it was.
