The room, that was just seconds ago filled with laughter and joking, suddenly seemed a lot more tense. In a way, in came her father and out went the joy. He had always had that horrible effect on the boys that Selina was friends with and now that Gideon was her boyfriend his wonderful gift had only amplified. But she was sixteen years old. What did he think that she was going to do? Hide under a rock until she was thirty? Besides, of all of the boys in the world, Gideon was the type of boy that her father could and should be able to trust. Yet, that did not stop him from storming in with a spoon.

At her father's words, Selina suddenly understood the implication of what her father was assuming. The redhead rolled her eyes at her father and crossed her arms at his foolishness. That statement had to be one of the most idiotic things she had ever heard her father say and he had said many an odd thing. When Gideon spoke up Selina was proud of the way that he was handling himself. Of course, they were not doing anything, so what did he have to hide? It was easy to sound confident if you were innocent.

"Yeah Dad- he literally just showed up. He's been here for at the most twenty minutes." That number was even an exaggeration.

A plethora of thoughts raced through Jake's mind as he waited for the teenagers to say something. Honestly, he was rather hoping they would talk soon because nothing they could say would be worse than what he was thinking. It was a father thing and he was not particularly fond of the idea of Selina dating. He hadn't been since Selina had started dating curly boy two years ago. Jake rather liked when Selina liked that captain bloke. He was a silly school girl crush and he knew that there was no danger in her liking a boy out of reach. It was when the boys became a reality that Jake started acting like this...

The kid finally spoke up and gave him an answer that he wanted to believe more than anything. But when Selina spoke up, his daughter set off an alarm in his head. Twenty minutes? He had been home for fifteen! Those five minutes were haunting him.

"Selina..." he started, "And why did you plan for him to come over when you knew neither me or your mother would be home?"
