She'd sat there for hours, staring into the water, ignoring the sleeping ducks, until finally she'd fallen asleep.
Now, many hours and a stiff neck later, Jez woke up. She was curled up on the bank, shivering slightly under her winter cloak. A young duck had decided that she looked a suitable hot water bottle and had settled next to her to keep warm. Jez smiled but didn't move, just stayed in her warm cocoon of cloak and sleepily watched the sunlight sparkle through the trees at the edge of the Forbidden Forest.
Jordan had been going out of his mind when he'd heard that Jez had frozen in the courtyard, he hadn't been allowed to see her at all and he had almost gotten into trouble with the schools healer when he'd attempted to burst onto the frozen ward to visit her. So when he'd heard that Jez had been released he'd been frantically searching the castle in search of his best friend.
He had been trooping accross the school grounds for most of the night in the hope that he'd find her, and he'd almost given up when he found a bundle of cloaks with a small duck snuggled up beside it. He immediatley knew it was her. He crouched down so that his darkly ringed eyes could meet hers,
"Jezabel Black, freezing in the courtyard like that was weird... Even for you," he grinned down at her.
