"Most of the time they get bailed out, and then they are still there." By they he meant the city of course. He just nodded as if to say he would get back to that later. Scabior nodded. "Yes, that was true." He would touch on that later as well. Ah. Same answer as someone else. He nodded, it was true. A black hole? "We would all be dead." If a black hole came anywhere close. War and all that again, he nodded. Unplottable. He loved that word. "I could possibly be." I was possible. "They would most likely get bailed out." He repeated again. It was very unlikely for a city to fall that way. "Tornados can destroy what humans built in cities and nature but the city is still there." Not lost at all. Scabior shook his head then pointed to a map. "If a rather earthquake happened in London, destroyed everything and killed everyone, the city would still be there. It will still be on the map. People would still try to clean it up." "Well it would be sort of distorted but not exactly lost." No, that wasn't a lost city. "That can happen." He nodded. "All those things you listened. Sure they destroy a city. But does that render it lost?" Did it? Again that word that he enjoyed. "That is, to say the least, good thinking." "I'll get back to you." He would, later on. "Right. So it might not be possible. Good answer." He smiled. He nodded at the three, similar answer to what he had talked about. Young students often had some sort of entertaining edge to them. Random hand movements, loud voices. Scabior just watched as the second year explained her thoughts and then she froze.
One minute Anya Phillips was talking and the next minute, BOOM- or not really. Just silence. Despite the theories of some students, Scabior did not live under a rock. Word of the students and Ravenclaw head of house freezing had reached him, and quickly at that.
He had only started to look into books to see if anything was related, but there were thousands upon thousands of books that could be looked into, and only one Scabior.
It was one thing to hear about it, and another to have a student freeze right in front of you.
He made his way over to her desk, cautiously waving his hand in front of her face but getting no response. "Thank you for some strange reason I didn't quite notice." His voice was almost snappy. Yup. Scabior was not happy. His good mood had completely vanished, somewhere along the lines of speaking about the lost city and the sudden reactions to Anya just freezing. "I don't think so Mister Vanderbilt? I think it would make perfect sense to just leave her here." His voice was oozing with sarcasm. "She's frozen." He answered quite obviously, AS was visible. He wasn't in the mood for these questions. Scabior stared at Emmanuelle for not even a second before ignoring her. "Kindly lower your voice Miss Moreau." "Really? Well its good to know that you agree with some who is speaking common sense Mister Rush." Scabior stared, good mood completely gone. "No." It wasn't a no thank you, or no its okay, just a straight no. He drew his wand, pausing as though he perhaps had frozen too with a thoughtful expression on his face as he figured out the exact message he wanted to send. Once he was certain, he flicked his wand, opening the door, then pointed the wand again straight at it. A slivery eagle exploding from the tip. The bird made a round around the classroom before quickly disappearing out the door.
Right, back to teaching. Scabior cleared his throat. "Back to the lesson then, the Healer will be here momentarily." Hopefully. Yes ignore the frozen girl. His good mood had vanished and quickly. "Many of you had very good answers. Some of you we might actually touch upon." Later, hoping that no one else froze in his class. "Please remember though, a city being destroyed is completely different from one being lost." A note to all of you who said something along the lines of Hurricanes or Tsunamis. "Today's lesson will be on something that some of you mentioned, the city of Atlantis." Good job to those who mentioned it, but it wasn't the hard to guess."There are many stories and myths behind the city, some true, and some not so true. But right now I just want to know what you know about the apparent lost city?"
Well, Professor was.... moody? Happy one second, grumpy the next, although he noticed that it may have occurred right around when the Gryffindor girl froze. Was that defense mechanism to say he really was worried for her, or he was as mean as the rumors say and he just doesnt give a hoot? But he did send a patronus out-- of which Vickers was quite impressed with its form-- and saw the the Professor carried on with the lesson.
Part of him wondered if the Historian has spoken with the Potions Mistress and was advised not to give the students another free period scare.
Vickers at this point really REALLY doesnt want to be anywhere near anyone he thinks is contagious-- like that Gryffindor girl-- but the Professor said the magic word.
A T L A N T I S
Blue eyes brightened considerably. They were going to discuss about Atlantis in this class? Vickers paused for a moment before raising his hand "There have been research that Atlantis might be located somewhere amongst the Greek islands, some were saying that it could've been what is present day Thira, popularly known to tourists as Santorini. Researchers said that back when Santorini was still a whole island, it had a volcanic explosion so bad the entire center of the island disappeared underwater, and that this explosion sent a tsunami that ruined the Minoan civilization in the nearby island of Crete." anyway that was one of the more credible versions he's read. He's gonna skip the part about aliens from outer space leveling the whole place.
