"Then I should be fine" she responded confidently making sure not to sound over-confident. Or worse! Cocky! Cockiness was something she really could not stand in people. Those people only came across as arrogant and arrogance was something she'd steer clear of. Unless the person could prove her otherwise.

She followed James into the dining room with a confident smile firm on her face. Was she smiling a little too much? She hoped not! What were they laughing at? Now she felt as though she'd made James miss out on some fun! Hopefully he wasn't thinking the same thing. She raised an eyebrow hearing what Dia had just said. Did she say something back? She had directed it to James after all. She didn't want to sound like she was trying to interfere or something. But if she didn't speak they would probably think she didn't want to be there. She did want to be there. She was happy to be meeting James' friends.

"Dia that's none of your business." Lizzie said, turning to her friend. Though she may not have been imposing on Ashley she was definitely imposing on Jade and James. She knew it too, which was why she didn't pursue it any further than her teasing little sentence. Sigh. Well at least she had some idea of when to stop. Ugh she could just see the night she had Alex had met. Dia had made it one of the most mortifying nights of her enitre life. There was no way Lizzie was going to give her the chance to do the same to the poor woman who already seemed to be feeling a little awkward.
"Exactly." James added. This was one of the few times he could agree with Lizzie on when Dia was strectching it. Sure she didn't mean any harm and he could see that she was just trying to lighten the mood but maybe Jade wouldn't have seen it that way. It was very likely that she had a different sense of humour than the one he and Dia shared and that would have made it a bit difficult in some cases; like right now. His lips curled into a smile when he caught Dia pouting slightly. "Buuut if you really want to know..." he chuckled when the smile returned to her face. Reaching into his back pocket he pulled out a lollipop and showed it to her. "I had told her she owed me one of these and she was nice enough to take it with her tonight." It was only a small lie and besides, it made her feel better without allowing her to think that anything had happened while they stopped out in the hall. Merlin knew that woman had an overactive imagination at times.

"Oh, is that all?" she asked, snatching the lollipop from his hand. She turned to Jade with a playful smile. "You should have left it in the store, he doesn't deserve it." She turned on her heel merrily and popped it in her mouth. "Have a seat, the food's amazing."

"Get that thing out of your mouth until after dinner."
"Yikes you sound like my mother."
