Plus you'll like Dia and once you don't mention any kind of mischief you'll be good with Lizzie." Which was all pretty much true. While at Hogwarts a lot of people confessed that watching them the seemed a bit intimidating but that was just a bit of overconfidence that they had. They loved to laugh and act like the school belonged to them because then it would almost seem that way and so they started approaching life in the same way.
Oh...she said she was fine...great, now he looked like he was being all overprotective or something. He didn't want to have her thinking he was smothering her or anything and he was really trying to not make it obvious how much he liked her. The last thing he needed was Dia bouncing off the walls with even more excitement. He remembered clearly the night they went out and Lizzie found a guy she liked; Dia didn't give her a break for weeks! He couldn't take that and he was sure Jade wouldn't have wanted to got through that. "Okay, just checking. I guess we can head inside then."
Jade listened as James spoke. Was it just her or did he seem to really be trying to make her feel as comfortable as possible? But it wasn't that she was uncomfortable, it was just that she was around people she didn't know... Okay, so she was a little uncomfortable but she should have been used to it by now. The only people she knew when she started her job at the Ministry were Kyle and Allison. That was it! But here she only knew James. Maybe she was here to get to know him more. She was intrigued by him for some strange reason though she was completely oblivious to what intrigued her. In fact, that was a pretty big word for her. If she was going to be totally honest. But right now, she needed to concentrate on making a good impression with his friends. She didn't want them thinking she was some kind of... She didn't even know what bad impression she could be giving off. Though the fact she wasn't sat in there with them was a contributing factor to that. Back to what James was saying.
"It's just when it comes to meeting knew people... Or in this case meeting people that the person introducing me to them has known for years makes me more nervous than I'd like to admit" she replied. Well it was the truth. And she wasn't afraid to admit it to James. It was everyone else she wouldn't admit it to.
Had she just made him feel a little awkward or something? Or maybe he just felt like he'd spoken out of turn? She didn't know but it was sweet of him to ensure she was okay AND to care enough to reassure her his friends were nice once she got to know them. But that wouldn't happen if she was stood here in the hallway now, would it! She smiled at him.
"Let's go" she responded confidently.
