It made him a little sad that this conversation had started to become so awkward. Was it him? Was it his fault? Though it probably was nobody's fault. It was just the fact that their last conversation had been quite...intense.
And it hadn't been about them either. Which made this encounter even weirder somehow.
Quidditch! There was their new conversation topic. Even though he wasn't playing this term. And he still hadn't exactly talked to Keefer about how he felt about that. They'd been sort of interrupted at the feast and hadn't really gotten to talk since then. Hopefully he wouldn't be too upset. Lewis AND KURUMI! was going to be there for all the matches though. In the stands. And there might just be a bit of cheering too. Like Professor Bentley had shown him. Yes. Because he believed in his team mates and everything. Hang on, were they still his team mates even though he WASN'T on the team?
Lewis nodded slowly, not quite sure what to say despite the change of topic. "Uhm...well, I really hope you're doing better this year than last." And this might have been considered rude if his smile hadn't been completely genuine and honest. He really DID hope that they would be doing better than last year. They should come in second maybe. Since well, first was obviously going to be Hufflepuff. But then, then it should be Gryffindor. Yes. Still, they didn't really delve right into the subject there so it was still slightly awkward just standing there. "Do you have any plans for the rest of the day?" Lewis finally asked for lack of anything better to say. That was another normal smalltalk-topic right?
This had to be the most awkward conversation Selina had ever taken part in through the course of her whole life. Every thing they said was laden when things that they both knew had happened. Neither of them was really saying what they wanted to say to one another and they were treading the conversations that were safe and simple. The only problem with safe conversation was that the two of them had no idea how to really act in front of each other. To be honest, Selina did not really know Lewis that well and vice versa, which also made things difficult. The two of them had spoken briefly and knew of each other before Selina had to go and deliver news to him that day. It was just a hard pill to swallow and that was the memory the two of them shared with each other, so it was all they REALLY had to talk about. But neither would dare breach speaking about it, it was not a library conversation.
When they somehow got onto the subject of Quidditch, Selina nearly jumped for joy. It was a conversation that Selina could talk about even in the lowest of spirits, and lately she was not in the best of spirits. The fall out with Gideon had put the damper on her mood, but she was not going to let it roadblock her life- no matter how much she wanted it to. So she would talk about Quidditch with Lewis. It was safe and at the same time normal enough were they could both pretend that their was not a cloak of awkwardness looming over their conversation.
Quidditch, right.
"Yeah I am doing a better job of handling it this year. First year handling a team is really hard. But I've gotten better at controlling it and managing it. To the best of my ability at least." That was all true; although, she was still having trouble taking on quite the Captain seat. She was not really a leader when it came to the game, she was part of the team so most of the time she had a hard time instilling the fear of Merlin in their hearts at practices. Selina was far too silly to take anything too seriously that was supposed to be fun.
Did she have plans for the rest of the day? Honestly, she was going to see if Kurumi could keep her busy with studying or something to keep her mind off of her and Gideon's fall out, but she did not know if her best friend was busy...or hanging out with Lewis. She seemed to be doing that a lot lately. So Selina replied honestly,
"I was going to see if Kurumi wanted to hang out... but she's been preoccupied as of late," Lewis.
