"Yeeeeeowww!" he squeaked, flapping his tiny wings and then folding them up nicely. He bumped his little nose into Daddy's hand and snorted, tiny curls of smoke leaking out of his nostrils.
Sweepy time? He blinked around at the big barn, trying to find a place to cuddle up for a nap, and just then noticed the people watching him.
"EEEOOOORRRRRRRKKKKK!" the dragon let out another squawk, this one sounding a little more terrified. He blinked up at his Daddy and started backing up, not liking all the people eying him. And what were those flashes? So many lights! "EEEOOOORRRRRRRKKKKK!!!!" Quote:

"He looks like he'll be able to fly just fine from what I can tell..." The dragon had already flapped his wings several times. "But you're right, he looks like a muscly little man." Er, dragon.
"That's right, green scales and a brilliant blue flame." Willy nodded at the little Claw. "And thanks for the name suggestions!" He was gonna... project those on the wall later. Yep.
Hmm. "I like that name suggestion," he nodded to G. "And yeah, we'll see how his horns turn out." Or horN.
"Good guess!" Though right now, his baby had Romaniany scales.
"I like that name too," Williamson mentioned softly, refilling his baby's bottle yet again. "And I'm definitely expecting some hot fire from this one too!"
Merlin's beard, was this a Gryffindor or a Ravenclaw genius talking??! "Er, yes? Your guess is as good as mine," he mused. "I'm sure he will be able to fly though." And yep, he was green in color. Healthy wittle gween baby!
Jeffrey. Heh. William chuckled at that suggestion. "I think he'll have long horns too. Look, he already has little stubs growing!" Well, they probably couldn't see it from there, but they would later. "I think he'll be medium or on the small side, yep! Great guesses! I'm expecting super hot blue fire from him too!"
"He'll definitely have at least ONE horn AND the ability to produce fire." As all dragons did.
"Excellent reasoning," William nodded. Great answer there.
"Yes, it definitely could. Unfortunately, we don't know much more about the parents other than what breed they were.... but yeah, good guesses!"
"Yep, I agree! Great guess!" Williamson smiled at the Slytherin.
"Mhmm," Wily nodded in agreement.
Oh no, more pictures. Willy swallowed his anxiety but shrugged. "I uh, I think he'll have to stay in the forest while he grows...er.... but one day, he'll probably want to fly home." To Portugal. Or Sweden. Or Romania. Sniffle. But not today, no, not today.
Gary. Gary Rush. Right. William would do his best to remember that one. "Thanks for taking pictures," he mentioned quietly. "Be sure to send me a copy." Or ten. He nodded at the boy's good guess too.
"Actually I think it will have a long snout, as per its name," he hinted with a wink. "But yep, you've got the green skin part right."
"Does this dragon have silvery-blue scales though?" William countered the Ravenclaw. "Nice guess though." He HOPED it would have pretty gold horns.
"Yeah that's my guess," he nodded toward the youngun Claw.
Williamson let out a short laugh at that guess. "Monster is such a harsh word, kid... but yeah he's a fire breathing baby all right."
"I agree entirely!" he beamed at the Gryffindor, totally unaware of how the boy thought he was craycray.
"Blaze... nice name! And good guess!"
"Twenty to forty feet, right! Excellent!"
"Romero is nice," Williamson put that one into his memory bank, smiling at her guess. Of course he had wings, yes yes.
"Yep! Probably!"
William wanted some of this guy's photos too. Did these kids all work for the yearbook or something? Or did they just happen to have cameras on them at all times?
"Yes, like most animals, you can tell a dragon's gender almost immediately upon birth so long as you are familiar with dragons." Rubeus Hagrid, for one, hadn't been familiar with dragons beyond the textbook. "And your guesses sound about right to me!" He didn't like the Chrystowhatever name, but he did nod at the suggestions anyway.
Thawhat? William blinked at Oakey. Was something wrong with the boy's tongue?
"Thanks for the guesses and suggestion, Ella!" See, he knew her name!
"I think this will be a powerful little guy too," Williamson agreed with Alyssa.
"Rrrrrico!" he repeated Issy. "Yeah, nice one, Isa-- er, Professor Magnus!"
"Excellent guess! He SHOULD have those features!"
What was with this girl, clinging to Cece's robes? He eyed the child but nodded to her guesses. WHUTEVER.
Nodding somewhat at all of the answers, William finished feeding the baby most of the pail of mixture and watched as the dragon started to get full and sleepy. About time! It was going on one a.m. here!
"There, there now, Baby, shhhhhhhshhh," Willy started to calm the baby, reaching out with his hand to stroke its little head. He cleared his throat and LOOKed at the class, hoping they would take a hint and be quiet for a little while longer, at least until the dragon fell asleep.
Then he responded to their answers more quietly. "Your guess is as good as mine. I think this fella will grow up to have characteristics of both parents, depending on recessive genes and such; unfortunately I can't tell you which parent was which breed, as both are either dead or disappeared."
He gave a shrug and filled up the baby's bottle with the remainder of the chicken blood/brandy mixture, holding it out to the poor, orphan baby dragon.
"You're probably the closest," he nodded toward one Ravenclaw in particular. "I would guess that this guy breathes pretty deadly fire as well. You can see that he has green scales for now, right? Those could change as it ages." The dragon was now back to suckling on the bottle and was hopefully no longer distracted by the class, though Willy could see that it WAS still eying the children in the front row.
"Let's all settle down for now though, all right? I'll let you pet the baby when he starts to fall asleep. It might help if you guys sang a little nursery rhyme...or at least hummed one...." Quote:

The soft, soothing music coming from the crowd of creatures with bright eyes helped tooooooo. It was like being back in his egg, only it smelled much better and felt much cooler in the barn. And, his Daddy was here in the barn, and his Daddy would take care of him, wight?
Cuddling up next to his dad's legs, the dwagon let out a happy rumble and blinked its bright little eyes, blinking along to the Twinkle Twinkle tune. The length of time between blinks swowwwly grew until the dragon was soundly sleeping on Willy's feet.
Vickers paused long enough to scribble his notes down on the parchment. Indeed thats whats exciting about having a hybrid creature-- one would never know quite how they'll turn out until they're fully grown, and even then it could still constantly change, swapping out characteristics of either parent till the end of its days. As he took another shot of the baby dragon he caught the Professor looking at him. He didnt seem displeased, so maybe taking photos was ok.
But the newborn started to cry and Vickers had to stop. He could sense it was being bothered by the camera flashes. He realized that the class was now humming it a lullaby. Twinkle Little Stars.... its been a long time since he's ever sang it and vaguely too-- he just wasnt quite as on top on Muggle children's tales and songs it seems. He hummed anyway though, bits of notes here and there.
