The list continued as he recalled the various things Aspen had mentioned to him in the time they had known one another. "Oh! Taryn," he repeated, understanding flooding his expression as the girl pointed to herself in introduction. Cornelius stepped a bit forward to extend a hand to the girl in greeting, shaking her hand just a second later as he gave a brief one of his smiles, "Cornelius. Nice to meet you."
Cornelius seemed unphased by Taryn's mild judgement; though it was tangible in the air, he didn't seem to notice or at least had to decency not to show it as Taryn evaluated him thoroughly with one of her looks. Though he couldn't help but glance down at himself for a split second to make sure that he didn't look ridiculous or anything. Upon finding his own uniform casually neat and his shoes dirty but not falling apart, he quickly returned his gaze to Taryn. Especially as she announced that she had heard things about him. Heard things about him?!
What did that mean? His eyebrows rose in surprise at her words, but there was still vague amusement on his lightly tanned expression. "You've heard things?" He glanced to Aspen curiously before returning his gaze to Taryn. "Like what?" Quote:

No, it bothered her. But she was used to it and it was a back-burnered in favor of watching two worlds collide. That was how it felt, too. Collisions of two very separate, very different parts of Aspen's life. She was still close to Cornelius's side, but part of her wanted to back up and observe so she wouldn't influence how they reacted to each other.
But she stayed. Of course.
Aspen knew Taryn wasn't the avid note taker she was, so she couldn't possibly recall everything Aspen had told her. Though, she doubted Cornelius would be shocked by anything she'd said to Taryn. "Nothing that you probably don't already know," Aspen commented, though genuinely curious as to what detail Taryn might share.
She noted a few looks between them... but who knew what those meant??
"Is this going okay?" Taryn shrugged at his question. "Just.. things. Girl talk." Nothing that she was going to actually TELL him, duh.
She glanced at Aspen and smiled, "Are you expecting things to go badly? Other than being ambushed in a hallway," And the whole boyfriend thing in general making her grumpy, "I'd say everything is just fine."
Yes Taryn, why wouldn't it be? |
