She wasn't crying...was she? Lilly rubbed her eyes, just in case.
"Can I finish it with tears?" she joked, trying to put on a smile. Fail. Like everything else in her life, sadly. That was life for her, though.
"Are you okay, Ira?" she asked, trying to be considerate.
Oooh! There was an excuse to be considerate! A shy boy! But Huffie girl beat her to it. Ira, of course, was Huffie girl. But she spoke to him anyway.
"Are you okay? You look new," Lilly said. Blunt, but there it was. He did look like an older boy, fifth or sixth year, probably. If he was this shy, maybe he wasn't quite as Gryffie-ish as she was.
She fiddled with her hair again, twirling it around with her index finger. She was uncomfortable and tired and she wanted to go to bed...or home. Not Rupert's house, but her mum and dad's. Or now just her dad's, unless he'd moved house or something.
