But summer queries had him doing something that Tate had always thought he would never ever do... he yanked a short stack of photographs from his pocket and leaaaaaaned down the table to show Seren. "Today is my daughter Geneva's nine month birthday." He'd spent the entire summer just being an at-home type person, and while it made him stir crazy, he hadn't missed a single thing.

Oh, hmm? Oh, hello, new blonde employee. Tate waved to her. Did she want to look at pictures too?

Though she had indeed enquired about Tate's summer, Seren expected a brief comment for the sake of pleasantries, but she was surprised by the development. Pleasantly surprised even. Photographs! "Oh that's so lovely, I'm sorry you have to miss it." She looked over the photographs in the Headmasters hands. She often forgot that her colleagues had families so it came as a small surprise to see family photographs. "She's absolutely precious, you must be so proud."
This had to be the most intimate conversation she'd had with the Headmaster since her appointment. It was a good thing right? Seeing his sentimental side.

Oh wasn't he just nice? The Headmaster hadn't acted too professional and had even sent a wave in her direction.

She would certainly have to ask him more about the Castle later, perhaps when they had--

"You have a baby? I love babies!" Callie squeaked slightly as she overheard the man talking with Seren, the Herbology lady, over the pictures of his daughter. She leaned over into the empty seat between her and the head man and looked at the little girl in the photographs. "She's very cute, congradulations!"

She sadly hadn't gotten to see many babies recently while working her cart around the Alley. No one wanted to bring them around for whatever reason, probably all the noise from the shoppers.

And there were those bracelets again.

"Yea..." she agreed, a little distracted, but she came back to reality after a second or so. "Though you get used to it after awhile. You must tell me though, where you get your lovely bracelets from. I noticed them back at the Menagerie but didn't have time to ask."

As she was making herself comfortable, and after hearing her name, Medea leaned forward a little and looked past the divination professor to...William. He didn't quite look his usual prankster self. Not like the previous start of term feast that she'd witnessed, with that cheeky grin and whatnot. Or was that Oliver she was thinking of? "Hello Villiam." she smiled a little before her eyebrows knitted together in concern. Just a tad bit. A tad! "Are you alright?"
"Medea, that's a lovely name. And your auora is very strong. Do you practice healing charms by chance?" The second question had seemed to come out of the blue but Callie couldn't help but notice something calming emitting from the Defense Professor, odd coming from someone who teach's violent subject matter.

Oh her bracelets? Her new friends were just so kind to appreciate her outfit tonight, first Willy looking at her dress and now this! "Oh thank you very much, I got a few of them in London, some from Edinburgh, and this one from my mother." she pointed at the least flashy of them all, the plain silver bangle.

And then there was the matter of the woman's accent. Where in the world did that come from? She would ask at a more approriate time. Yeah.

"SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFSSSHHHHHH!" All of the water in William's mouth went promptly, directly onto Callie's dress. "REAL feathers?!" he exclaimed, clearly more in shock about what (or WHO, as all creatures had names to Willy) Callie was wearing rather than the fact that whatever (whomever) she was wearing was now soaking wet.

He could not believe her. "And I thought you LIKED creatures, Calista!" Willy continued in the same outraged, somewhat hurt tone. "I thought that perhaps you had a pet parrot or something, judging from the treats you were loitering around at the Magical Menagerie! I would have HOPED that a FELLOW ANIMAL LOVER would know better than to wear real FEATHERS to a FEAST!"

A feast where they could be eating roasted duck or boiled goose or baked turkey or fried chicken this very evening! TSK TSK TSK! Calista Elwood had certainly just committed a great fowl in William's book!

Oh, and he was, "Sorry about the water," he added after a long moment, still shaking his head as he tipped his chair back to talk to Medea. Really, though, she should have been lucky he didn't spit a mouthful of cherry slushy on her or something.
One minute she was answering the flattering question about her dress and the next she was being sprayed by Merlin knows what was spewing from William's mouth.

"Arghh! William!" Calista shrieked, although not too loudly. What had gotten into him? "What are you going on about? Seriously! I didn't go out and rip the feathers out of their back's! And who's to say they weren't found already shed?"

She couldn't stand for this. She reached for her glass of water and contimplated hard whether or not to dump it's contents over the man's head--the latter was chosen and the cup was placed back on the wood top. She noticed his jacket, dragon skin. "Way to call the cauldron black! Look at your jacket Willy. Skin any dragons recently?" She hissed.

"You've practically ruined my dress, I hope you're happy." The Divination professor scowled at him and then pulled out her wand and began to dry it's feathers. Poor baby, she hadn't even gotten to wear this dress for more than an hour and it was almost destroyed. She was lucky it hadn't completely desingrated. "Yes well, don't let it happen again."

Or he would be missing that jacket of his. She could probably get some good money for it, that is if it survived.

Clutching two boxes, Kurumi made her way to Headmaster Tate first and noticed him showing pictures of a baby which she overheard was his. She couldn't help but be reminded of her father, the way he was showing off his daughter. The Headmaster and him would probably get along - scary thought. "Good...evening Headmaster," Kurumi said as she bashfully pushed the box of oatmeal cookies towards him. See. She remembered! "Congratulations as well." On his new baby girl AND a Happy Birthday.

Kurumi's attention then fell on Professor Bentley and a jolt of guilt ran through the Gryffindor. Of all people, her own Head of House should have known of her situation. Although there were a few obvious changes about Kurumi's features that should be an indicator. "Good evening, Professor Bentley," Kurumi said with a polite bow. "Thank you for allowing me to continue on as prefect." She shuffled her feet for a moment before noticing that there was a new face at the table.

Deciding that she ought to set her other box of cookies down in front of the Headmaster as well, the one labeled "for staff," Kurumi did so and was blissfully unaware that there were not enough macaroons for everyone. The correct number having somehow slipped her memory while she had been baking.

"Professor Romanos, Professor Williamson, good evening," she said with a bow. She would be seeing both of them soon about various things. Professor Williamson needed to help her figure out Walnut's peeing problem and Professor Romanos to set up some more meditation lessons. They HAD been helping. "Welcome to Hogwarts. I'm Kurumi Hollingberry, one of the Gryffindor prefects.," Kurumi said with a polite bow towards the peacock the blonde professor and somehow managed to dodge the shower that had been Professor Williamson.

She then glanced back at her own table and figured that she shouldn't linger here for too much longer.
Oh? The students got to come up here where they were like, one-on-one with the Professors?

Callie was still flustered from the water incident when the girl stopped infront of her and she was fully ready to just nod and allow her to pass on to the others when she noticed that the girl had cookies.

"Oh aren't you sweet." She eyed her but then smiled, she was a child after all. Nothing to shifty going on. "Thank you Kurumi, it's lovely to meet you dear." she reached forward and grabbed the purple cookie and sniffed it quickly before taking a bite--odd habit. "Will I be seeing you in Divination this term Miss Hollingberry?"

She certainly hoped there were some kids in this place that appreciated the noble art.
