Sighing, Lauren entered the shop which supplied all of the things she was so not familair with.
She may be a girl, but she was certainly not a feminine one and this had never been a problem before. When it was just you and your father 80% of the time, personal hygeine (apart from basic cleanliness) never seemed to be important.
But now she was expected to be around people she barely knew, all day, every day and be subjected to their potential judgement. What if they shuddered at the state of her split ends? What if they fainted upon hearing that she mostly washed her hair with a bar of soap? Would they hold her down and force make up on her? Probably not, but Lauren didn't really know much about girls her own age. Sighing again, she resolved herself to learning more.

Casually meandering up to the counter, Lauren waited until the shopkeeper was free and then asked "Hi there. I'm going to need, uh, a lot of help. All of your help." She smiled sheepishly at the person behind the counter, hoping they had a soft spot for helpless cases.
