25. Sorting Hat

Sure she knew what it would entail.

Sit on the stool…wait for the deputy headmistress to place the old hat in your head…listen as it claims your house.

Simple enough and not scary at all. That was unless you were unsure of where you might land…or a muggleborn still getting used to magic of any sort. Aurora was the former, caught between the pureblood loyalties of the Slytherin half of her family, or the bookish Ravenclaw side of the other. So when it was her turn to be sorted…one of the last because of her surname…it was with trepidation.

“SLYTHERIN!”
