After the release of the first two Harry Potter films, an actual display for Platform Nine and Three-Quarters was erected at London's Kings Cross station, near platform nine so fans could pose and take photos with a half a luggage trolley sticking out of a brick wall (reminiscent of when Harry and the Weasleys went through the wall in the first two movie installments). Now, after a five-year reconstruction, Platform Nine and Three-Quarters at Kings Cross is being moved to the newly-modeled Western Concourse, set to open to the public this coming Monday, March 19, 2012.
The platform will, however, be no longer near Platform nine as it was once, and in a nook found at the Western Concourse, photographed above. The newly-placed tourist point will now, according to The Guardian, face "away from any trains lest the incessant flash photography unsights the drivers."
Of one particular and notably new note: the BBC, who got the chance to see the Western Concourse in advance, received a tip that Warner Bros is looking into setting up a Harry Potter-themed shop near the Platform Nine and Three-Quarters display. We will have more on that when it is released.
"The Western Concourse is where the famous Harry Potter platform 9 [3/4] will end up and I'm told a certain film company may be interested in the lease on the nearest shop."
