Fried chicken in the Great Hall prepared by the house elves still tasted like the fried chicken she got back home in Japan. Not to mention that Kurumi was getting tired of every Muggle Studies lesson centering on food. She was ready for something more practical and hands on. Really, she just missed Professor Zookara.
After the explosion that had happened in the Great Hall, Kurumi felt awkward around people. Now pretty much entire school knew what she was AND what had been bothering her and she felt judged. So, as she made her way into the classroom, Kurumi nodded her head politely to the professor before finding a seat at an empty table and tried to make herself as small as possible. Glenn walked into Muggle Studies and noticed the flags around the room. New Zealand was not there. It bothered her for just a second. Her father was a New Zealander and much of her family still resided there.
"Hello Professor!" Glenn said, giving a small smile to her. She guessed New Zealand was not particularly big. It could be overlooked.
From the corner of her eye, she spotted Kurumi sitting by herself at a table. The thoughts of no New Zealand flag were banished from her brain.
Glenn made a beeline for her, pulling herself up onto a bar stool. "Hi Kurumi." She said, "I'm really sorry about your mum." And she was. Glenn couldn't imagine what it'd be like without her own mum being around. She started rummaging in her bag, Glenn had been meaning to catch her. "Do you want a cookie?" Glenn had questioned her mum about sending some to Hogwarts. Her mum was not amazing, but a better baker than Glenn would ever be. "I thought maybe- since you always give people cookies when they're sad maybe you'd want one too?" She placed the lunch box on the table and pushed it over to where Kurumi was sitting. The lunch box had charmed to keep the cookies inside warm over the travel to Hogwarts. |
