Amelia had the idea of doing her sundial reading in the observatory after doing her nocturnal reading last night at the lake. She had discovered that the second reading she had done with that instrument had been correct, and it was 8:00 instead of 9:00. Hopefully she would be accurate with the first reading of her sundial; at least it was easier to use. Or at least it was in her opinion.

She carried the device over to the window and set it down so that the arrow faced outwards. Then she made sure that she still had her watch in her pocket (she had forgot to bring it with her last night when she went to the lake).

Now she needed to consult her notes and double check to make sure she had the steps for this right.
